Iraq: Jihadist Group Announces Chemical Attack On Baghdad
AKI ^

Posted on 09/13/2005 5:05:00 AM PDT by jmc1969

For the first time, terrorists linked to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi are claiming to have struck the Iraqi capital Baghdad with chemical weapons. The claim was made in a statement published on the Internet by Islamic group al-Taifa Mansura (The Victorious Side) which is part of the al-Qaeda network and close to its Iraqi representative, al-Zarqawi. The same group last Sunday threatened to attack the Green Zone in Baghdad with missiles containing chemical warheads unless the Americans halted the ongoing offensive against the city of Telafar.

A short while ago, in a second statement the group claimed responibility for missile attacks on central Baghdad from 8.30am till 10am local time on Tuesday morning. The message alleged that chemical weapons hit the interior ministry, the foreign ministry and the American training school which is also located in the heavily fortified Green Zone.

Iraqi police have confirmed that there were several explosions this morning and eyewitnesses say plumes of smoke could be seen rising above central Baghdad. Lieutenant Thair Mahmoud of the Emergency Response Unit told journalists there had been one mortar attack and other blasts were heard nearby. He said there were no immediate reports of casualties. Other reports say there were as many as five explosions, either inside the Green Zone or immediately outside.

The firing of five rockets was confirmed by an Islamic site close to the Baathist-inspired guerrillas - islammemo - which referred to at least four rockets with chemical warheads. The site, which tends to publish unreliable biased news reports, celebrates it as the first chemical attack in Iraq."

Wouldn't it be a gas if we announce that the only direct hit was on Saddam's cell?

A few cans of RAID and a potato gun hardly constitutes a chemical attack.

Meanwhile, in another development in the Middle East, the Muslim propaganda outlet, al Jazeera, announced the sudden, complete disappearance of Damascus, Syria. According to al Jazeera, "We're not sure what happened, it just seems to have vaporized, replaced by shiny, black glass"...

If they only fired five rockets over an hour and a half period then they most likely moved positions a time or two. It may also depend on where they were being fired from, if a rural area then yeah they have a chance to get them. If they are being fired from heavily populated areas then probably not.

Breaking news from an unreliable site?..Hmmmm

Didn't stop Dan Rather from going forward with Bush's National Guard service. In Dan's case it was an unreliable source but the difference is the same.

As far as the MSM is concerned, it doesn't need to be true, it just has to appear true. The more damaging the better.

What if you threw a chemical weapons attack and nobody was there to notice?

Better yet, shoot "blanks" and call it a chem attack. These terrorists are ruthlessly efficient in some cases, but fumbling DOLTS in others.

I watched "The Flight that Fought Back" a few nights ago and in the face of that drama and tragedy and hope and courage... there was a little bit of comedy.

That the idiot pilot hijacker couldn't figure out how to disengage the autopilot disconnect warning alarm (by pushing a little yellow button on the flight yoke) is nothing less than comical.

What monsters.
What idiots.

What amazes me is that these terrorists are so uneducated and incompetent that they can't manage to cook up a IWMD (Improvised Weapon of Mass Destruction.)
It ain't exactly rocket science- just read the warnings on the back of household chemicals.
Of course, this requires the ability to read, and the possession of such 'godless western luxuries' as cleaners and disinfectants.

"They're Muslims -- Islam is their drug. Let's hope they "overdose" in increasing numbers."

But do remember it is a known fact that many of them are issued drugs. Read the recent articles posted on the interrogations of the goons in Mosul. The guy says they are given drugs to "help them perform, make it easier". Not that I needed that report to verify. It has long been known for the past few years they often are given drugs to calm them, or make them pretty dopy, especially for those that are suicide bombers. Hell for a thousand years plus Ali Babba have used hash hish to numb em down and give them false courage to go into combat.

I pray that this is not true; however, if it is, Medina and Mecca should be wiped off the face of the earth! So much is going on in the middle east which leaves me with a very uneasy feeling, e.g. waiting for the other shoe to drop.
