The Dem playbook

The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:

Kennedy -- civil rights

Leahy -- Bybee torture memo

Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment

Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties

Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade

Feingold -- limits of executive powers

Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

Vitter has to get his story straight... let me go get past talk show clips for media. Rep. of course. Landrieu got a hold of him. He'd better finish strong or he's toast.

Kennedy would shut up if they would turn off the cameras.

That right...Teddy rarely gets to be center stage on tv....Very little face time comes his way.

After listening to Kennedy, I have Excedrin headache #1000.

Roberts is the epitome of a great judge: emotion does not throw him off guard. He can take Kennedy's very unsubtle insinuations that he, as well as the Reagan Adminstration, are fundamentally "mean-spirited" and racist without getting as irate as I was (I slapped Kennedy's face and almost knocked over my new TV!!).

You could tell Roberts was PISSED, but he very calmly but FORCEFULLY told Kennedy he was misrepresenting his position and the Reagan Administration's and then set the record straight. To me, it was a brilliant performance--and Kennedy knows it!

We will be very fortunate to have this man as Chief of SCOTUS!

You know Vitter is still acting like he's not acknowledging that Blanco screwed up. He keeps talking about the slow response but not the lack of preparation.

Mon Dieu! Look at the number of your post. Now you've done it. Just don't say Schumer's name five times.

Roberts: "You have misrepresented my position, Senator."

Isn't that always the case when it comes to the dems?

Roberts is like a big old cat with a tiny mouse, he has not even broken a sweat yet.

I like your analogy, but I was thinking it was more like a young svelte cat batting around an old, fat blind (as in blind-drunk) rat.

There's really no sport in it.

"Foxnews has GWB which is even better."

Yeah. The comments by President Bush and the Iraqi President make Leahy and Kennedy REALLY look like the slugs they are.
