The Dem playbook
The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:
Kennedy -- civil rights
Leahy -- Bybee torture memo
Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment
Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties
Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade
Feingold -- limits of executive powers
Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

Ditto Leni and well said. I believe there will be fireworks but from the dems side only. They will become indignant and enraged and our next CJ will answer their questions in a most "humbling" and respectful way. But it will leave a mark and it will reinforce his conservatism.
The dems will continue to rear their ugly liberal heads and for those that are watching, will also remember their disrespect for a man of character.
Oh yeah, and we'll be watching....
FYI
1st Lady Laura Bush live on C-span2 right now....
Thanks for the heads up, I love watching people who hate giving speeches, give speeches...
They always do so well!
most ppl won't watch the hearing... either working or don't care. They only get what they see on sound bites from the MSM on the news. The Dems are looking to see who gets the best coverage on the MSM nightly news from sound bites. sad thing is majority of Americans won't see how much the Dems make a$$ of themselves. Hopefully Brit tonight on FNC will have some good bites of the Dems being A$$es, plus there is always Rush.
Only reason I will watch is I am home with children and love politics. But I gotta go to work acouple hours this afternoon, so I will miss all the fun till after work.
I used to go to Truro Epis Ch in Fairfax, with Justice Thomas. He was not totally blind-sighted, and had only an inkling after Bork, but he did not expect the anger and vitrio l from the Dims.
They won't even get to first base with Roberts, IMO. He is not only BRILLIANT, he is prepared, and ready! It is going to be fun watching the guy send them down the road! They still won't know what hit them, when they are spinning out of control, in flames!
Sen. Grassley said on C-SPAN this morning that today each senator gets 30 min., tomorrow they get 20 min..
On Thurs., I believe the "witnesses" get their time, then to go back to senators' questions. If necessary, they will go through the weekend. It doesn't end until every senator has asked all of his/her questions.
At the end of this hearing, D.C. will end up containing the biggest pile of excrement known to man.
Thanks for the heads up; watching.
The president will address the nation on Thursday night at 9:00 p.m.
I'd like to see Hatch tell Chuckie to STHU, just once. It would be a hoot.
Bet money that Kennedy or Schumer is scheduled for the nightly news hours. just to get prime viewing.
Anyone having trouble with C-SPAN links? When I pull up the screen the C-SPAN 1 - 2 & 3 links are gone.
Hatch has told Schumer he had just asked "a dumbass question". That really was a hoot. Happened a year or so ago.
That happens every now and then, click on the links down at the bottom on their home page.
What?
AJ announcement?
No; FNC said it will be to discuss ongoing Katrina relief efforts.
Hi gang.
And that doesn't even count all the stalling and delaying tactics the Dims will employ. They will stretch these hearings out for as long as they can and continue to assail President Bush, hoping that dragging his approval down will erode support for Roberts. Eventually, the argument they will make, I'm guessing, is that it's far better that those SCOTUS seats remain vacant than to allow a president with "historically low approval numbers" who "showed his lack of judgement and leadership by botching the hurricane relief efforts" make "lifetime appointments" to the court with such "divisive" nominees.
Specter is trying to move waaaay left by back dooring an "will you uphold" stare decicis.
(quoting blacks law? This idiot went to law school? quoting blacks law is pandering to the public not asking a legal question.)
