The Dem playbook

The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:

Kennedy -- civil rights

Leahy -- Bybee torture memo

Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment

Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties

Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade

Feingold -- limits of executive powers

Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

Slightly off topic... who was the last CJ pre-Rehnquist to die in office? Was it Fred Vinson?

Yep, so far leahy has mentioned Iran Contra and now Ken Star. He is looking for things to give people a bad taste in their mouth about Roberts. Now implying Roberts is in favor of mistreatment of children

In the next round Leahy will ask Roberts "When did you stop beating your wife?"

Roberts is really doing well against Leahy. Leahy, all by himself, made himself look silly and irrelevant, petulant and cranky.

Plus his questions were soooo obviously contrived and pointless.

Roberts did everything but say, "Gee, stupid question..."

Agree with you in a way. But that's the way it is now. JR can't really come out and say just what he means.

Part of the job today is selling yourself...we learned that with Bork!

Since they can not STOP his nomination to the SC they'll try to make him as ineffective as possible! Thomas unfortunately reaped those bastard evil rats winds of hate!! The vomits from Hell used their dribble very effectively!! Even the Black community closed it's door to Mr. Thomas! Can someone please TELL Mrs. Roberts NOT to fall asleep! The camera is capturing all her moves!

I watched Leahy for about five minutes and had to turn it off. The Democrats want to pick the Supreme Court Justices, even when they're out of power.

You suggest Luttig or Olsen?

No. Edith Jones. The next nominee will not be a white guy.

I just got here. I have no TV today because I am at my son's house. Should I go back and read anything earlier on the thread, or just start following it here?
