CNN PRODUCERS TOLD ON-AIR GUESTS:Ê GET ANGRY Mon Sep 12 2005 12:42:11 ET
After weeks of over-the-top Katrina coverage from the mainstream media, LA TIMES'S oped guru Michael Kinsley divulges that CNN has been coaching guests to artificially enhance their on-air emotions!
The TV news networks, which only a few months ago were piously suppressing emotional fireworks by their pundits, are now piously encouraging their news anchors to break out of the emotional straitjackets and express outrage. A Los Angeles Times colleague of mine, appearing on CNN last week to talk about Katrina, was told by a producer to "get angry."

I have to agree just about all of the reporting was over the top, I had to stop watching the coverage.

Does that include telling local politicians to fake crying? Some are crying because they know they are toast next election.

That Phil Maher puke did the same thing but did it right on his show ... trying to get some Nwalins bureaucrat to cuss out Bush. Literally told him what words to use.
Sheesh! Surely the public can see through this.

Oh no !!!
Next, you'll be telling me the Jefferson Parish President was faking it when he cried on Meet the Press last week.
[Oh, yeh, reports later in the week revealed that the nursing home administrator refused evac assistance -- twice. JPP apparently forgot that detail before his TV crying debut.]

Brousard, the cry baby Randy Quaid look-a-like was found to be lying. His story was debinked by none other than CBS. I didn;t hear Russert or CNN running any retraction.

This is actually a capital offense in journalism. The News does not make the news - it reports it. This should be as damaging to CNN as a journalist who makes up stories. When you invite someone on to talk and then they get artificially angry, the story has been modified. This is slime. It is evil. This is news Michael Moore-style. We cannot depend on any MSM information if it is tainted this way, and as much as we deride their bias at times, I still consider this a bad thing. If Fox News ever does this, I'll call for heads. I love Britt Hume, but if he ever did something like this I'd exect him to be fired.

The question here is....can we get a Emmy category for best actor on a newscast? This way, we can have competition and some folks tyring really hard to ham it all the way. I'd be willing to be a victum of something...just to get my chance to act on CNN...preferably the guy who almost fell into a tar pit but didn't...and I'm mad that there weren't enough signs to show where tar pits are actually located.

This is not surprising.
Consider that when news is breaking and being fed live, CNN can not editorialize by ommission or word.

A coastie rescuing a dog is a coastie rescuing a dog.
This is just another way they are trying to spin left.

It's likely the direction wasn't a bid for higher ratings but rather a device to ratchet up the impact of their the anti-USA propaganda.
