My favorite threads are the ones that take a trip to FReeper Island. They make my head spin without the benefit of alcohol. :-)

OMG, I remember those "Ash Alerts"! Hadn't seen one in a long while (until now).

I not only remember "Ash Alerts", I remember Ash himself (as well as gobillgo). Kinda dates me, I guess...

Oh, yes, I also recall Ash. If I'm not mistaken, Ash or someone claiming to be Ash, came back for a return engagement not long ago. Quite brief.

Does anybody else see that host on the sun?

One of the funniest threads on FR. I was lurking at the time.

"Sorry, tad off the subject, just don't know where else to ask, and this does have to do with Freepers. Would anyone happen know if the photo album is still available. Had it bookmarked for a long time, but I've lost it. I've done a search but can't seem to find it--- maybe I'm using the wrong words in the search field, though."

Ah, yes! The famous 'Ash Alerts' during the Bubba Years.

He was a practicing lawyer in the DC area, IIRC.

BTW, who, or what, was BatJack?

"BatJack" was a Fla attorney by the name of Jack Thompson, who originally burst onto the FR scene with some stuff about then US Atty General Janet Reno, none of it complimentary in the least. He later had some personal problems with JimRob, the owner of the site, and there were threats of lawsuits and the like, and "BatJack" was unceremoniously tossed from here...

I don't recall if BatJack was his chosen "handle", or if that nickname was given him by other Freepers, but by the time the dust had settled, most were in agreement that he was bats...

Thanks Backhoe, but afraid all I get are a couple of red "Xs". What I was talking about were just the photos----lots of them, and I don't think it was part of a thread if I remember correctly. Think it was on its own. Thanks anyway though.

Did someone say MooseCheese?

Farmers in northern Sweden are milking moose and making cheese, which they sell for a lot of dough — nearly $500 a pound. The buyers include upscale hotels and restaurants in Sweden.

Remember when you had to turn off the html tags or a whole series of posts would go on blinking, italicized, or bolded? (Sigh) Good times...

Oh yeah. That always made me a nervous wreck! Freepers didn't take kindly to those who forgot to close their tags, to put it mildly! :-)
