Please help the people of NO are being forced from their houses and disarmed. The Constitution is being shredded and Freepers seem to be more concerned about the PETS. Give me a break the only people who are going to take care of the pets are the owners and they are not allowed to.

WTF did you think was going to happen. Attack the genesis. These dogs are dead.

I'm helping, seeker41. So far, I've given $100 to the Humane Society of the U.S., the same amount to Best Friends, and $50 to Noah's Wish. Stretching the ol' budget but that's OK.

I'm now trying to figure out how to give more.

It really bothers me when I read stories of animals suffering down there. I knew it was going to happen, though, even before the storm hit. So few people plan for the care of their pets before a storm comes. Heck, few even plan for themselves.

One of the most heartbreaking scenes of the flood was a dog treading water in the toxic soup towards a boat that had to leave him behind. One of the most heartwarming was a women being hoisted up off a rooftop along with her little puppy who was wagging his tail the whole time.

You know you can always count on posters such as #3. They think they're being cute or witty, I guess. Truth be known, they're neither cute nor witty.

Some threads just seem to bring out the heartless- I pity their spouses if they were lucky enough to find one;).

You can sign up to provide long-term foster care on the Best Friends site and other animal care sites. You can also help by signing up to adopt a Katrina pet OR by adopting a pet from a shelter taking in Katrina pets. It is important to remember the process of caring for the rescued pets is going to continue for months so they will still need money next month so you can donate more them.

I love puppies......with a bottle of merlot

Then your hero is None other than the most illustrious and honorable Sgt. Mike Minton of the St Bernard Parish Sheriffs office. Maybe one day you can click glasses over your din din. He will tell you how he protected folks from the rabid pitt bulls (of all breeds) and you can give him your favorite receipes. Delight in the your agreement that it's more humane. /ugh

I gave to animal rescue even before giving to help the humans. And I will continue to give.

Just ignore the FR thread trolls.
