Companies with ties to the Bush White House and the former head of FEMA are clinching some of the administration's first disaster relief and reconstruction contracts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
At least two major corporate clients of lobbyist Joe Allbaugh, President George W. Bush's former campaign manager and a former head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, have already been tapped to start recovery work along the battered Gulf Coast.
One is Shaw Group Inc. and the other is Halliburton Co. subsidiary Kellogg Brown and Root. Vice President Dick Cheney is a former head of Halliburton...

So I guess Reuters believes the contracts should go to firms who donated heavily to Kerry?
But all the firms that donated heavily to Kerry are media organizations, who've never built anything but FUD in their collective lives.
Might this have something to do with the fact that the liberals connections consist of :Abortion clinic workers, ACLU office workers, College professors, professional activists and lawyers?
We need people that know how to work for a living down there, not a bunch of freaking pansies with doctorates in solicialist government handouts and Bush hating.
That's all they know.
There's another hurricane on the way that might make landfall next week. I'm sure the MSM is hoping they can pin that one on W as well.
What other options exists? What other companies can do the job?
All I can say is all firms are tied to the Bush whitehouse since he is president of the country..These morons make me sick always trying to start something..
Once more..YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID/REUTERS.
When will these people realize that Brown and Root of Halliburton and Bechtel are companies that specialize in major construction projects. There are very few companies in the world with their capabilities and they are bound to be involved in any majot governement project...because there is nobody else...Stupid!
LOL, only half the story as usual. Blanco and hubby are buddies with the Shaw group. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1482004/posts
And this was back in '04. What did LA get for its money? And what's Witt getting now? And why is he getting it when he helped Blanco resist a federal takeover of disaster relief? Inquiring minds want to know.
The Lib MSM never seem to get tired of this type of reporting.
These two companys are huge government contractors for one simple reason, and it has nothing to do with VP Cheney.
They simply have the capacity to handle jobs this large. The truth won't matter though, cause we're living in George Orwell's "1984". Only difference is that, instead of the government controlling the message, it's the media.
Reuters might want to tke a look at who the CEO of The Shaw Group is:
J.M. Bernhard, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Shaw and is Chairman of the Democrat Party of Louisiana!
The Shaw Group Inc. announced today that it has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to aid in the recovery and rebuilding efforts. The $100 million contract has a base period of one-year, with an additional one-year option.
I am just shocked!
Flipping through the channels, I saw the actor Jay Thomas (from New Orleans) tell Larry King that in New Orleans they don't consider the name Halliburton to be a bad thing.
Bush ordered the Hurricane and Halliburton created it.
they never miss a chance to dig
