I hope this ok to post, and I hope I put it under the right category. This slideshow is fascinating, but long. However, it's worth going through and reading all of the commentary by this resident of the French Quarter who stayed for Katrina. His view of reporters is especially interesting.

Thanks for posting this, it really deserves its own thread. The fellow took a lot of effort with his captions.

Very interesting so far. This pic is captioned "extent of flooding at the end of day two next to the super dome. What I want to know is why did people stay there past day one?

This pictorial does make you ask a few questions. It does seem that there was more of a police presence than the MSM led me to believe.

I don't know her name, but she works for MSNBC. My apologies for my wordage, but this wench didn't know what the hell was going on. She made up 75% of what she was saying and exaggerated about 95% of everything that she did know.

Thank you for posting this. I was fascinated to see the amount of time they still had to get out before it became too late. It was also very good to see there were many authorities helping, police, guard, etc. Does anyone who watched this have any doubt that there was time to use the buses and the evacuation plans?

"This pictorial does make you ask a few questions. It does seem that there was more of a police presence than the MSM led me to believe."

and LA NG, plus the trucks he mentioned coming in from "all over the country" right away..... don't know how he knows where those trucks were coming from, though.

The biggest question raised by his photos on Monday is that it is apparent it was still possible to move widely around the city, in the 12-24 hours after Katrina hit. HOWEVER, we have seen (on other threads) that Mayor Nagin (and presumably some # of other officials) knew by around noon on Monday that one or more levees had been breached and the city WOULD flood -- so HUGE issue for the next 12-24 hours from that point is WHY DIDN'T THEY RENEW THE EVAC EFFORT WHILE THERE WAS STILL TIME. To people walking around the French Quarter, like our photographer or some of the media, it did indeed seem that NOLA had "dodged the bullet" -- but some local officials knew (or should have known) better..... what did they do over the next 24 hours??? I saw a clip of the Mayor talking on Monday afternoon and he's telling a reporter that levees had been breached, but did anyone take full cognizance of this and ACT while there was still time to get more people OUT?????

WOW, what a difference. My wife and I stayed one block east of Canal St for the July 4th week (Iberville Suites). It was strange to two Floridians how the locals spoke "laughingly" about the corruption in the local govt., "proudly" at living an average of 9-12 ft below sea-level, and "insanely" that they dodge the hurricane bullet all the time. Thanks for the photo link.

Nah....if he was being honest, the factory owner had given him permission, "to do what he had to do".

Someone else asked me the same question in a private message, so I went back and I cannot view it now either. I sent a message to my brother to ask if he knew who the page actually belongs to. I also sent an email to the website (Kodak) and asked them. Of course, all I recieved from them was an email saying they had recieved my email and they would get back with me. And my brother works odd hours, so who knows when he will look at his.
I just dont know how those photo albums work. It's too bad, because it is awesome!
