They shoot dogs, don't they?

The sherrif in this article would like to take that shot!
I thought this would happen.
Again tell me.... why are you yelling at people on this thread about the behavior of law enforcement in NO?
I have three kids, three cats and one huge dog. They are all dependent on me for their care, and I do not take that responsibility lightly.
I would never, ever abandon my animals.
What if this, what if that, I have carriers and two SUV's. I can get them all out no matter what is coming. It is not an either or situation.
Then your point is....?
Dogs and cats are property. Various government personnel are willfully separating people from their property and then destroying it. This is in many cases in violation of the owners' constitutional property rights.
are we sure NO has a real police department?
Seriously! it seemed the NO PD is a cluster of keystone cops.
I can just see somebody doing a cartoon "yeeeeeeha! we a going huntin' far dawgs! Ahma gona finally shoot mah bang bang."
These animals are PROPERTY, the police have ASSUMED ($$$) resposponsibility for PROPERTY by the mandatory evactution.
Until NO turns red there is no way anyone should go there to live.
The more people I meet, the more I like my dog.
I've come to the conclusion many of the people running the show down there are absolute morons.
"Sorry to say, a lot of those animals are worth more than the thugs and snipers that were loose and few of them were shot. Why?"
No kidding. I'd say worth more than that bastard of a sheriff, too.
Complete and total frustration over the apparent lack of outrage over the shredding of the Constitution - something this site USED to be dedicated to. Of course now when a doggie gets killed - as a result of the shredding of the Constitution - all hell breaks loose over the dog.
why on Earth are they shooting dogs??? Not enough bribes???
Did it ever occur to you statements like yours may be a reason the RATS are chasing out the Republicans?
Grrrr ...
Would you describe this thread, currently less than a hundred posts, nearly half of which involve ~YOU~, as "all hell breaking loose?"
I just thought it was another bit of sad news in this mess.
They dispatched Florida Wildlife Commission and other states wildlife killers to go to the gulf to kill all stray animals. They gave the animal groups 2 more days to save what they can---then they are shooting. I will withhold my opinion at this point--
In other words,
In total control freak fashion,
you're getting all pissy with people because they care about something you don't care about....
and they DON'T care about something you do.
Can you spell LIBERAL little one?
It's unfortunate, but probably the best thing to do. We are having a trail ride next week to send money to a horse rescue program (a lot of horses escaped and have been caught but need to be fed until their owners can be found), and I think it's a great thing. But I'd rather have my horse shot than have him wandering around sick and starving to death, wondering why I wasn't coming out to feed him as I always do.
Animals can't think and don't know why they're miserable and hurting, and often the best thing to do is spare them this suffering.
I just hope authorities learn a lesson from this immense disaster.
What a waste of resources to go in later, shoot all the strays (how many thousands?), pick the bodies up, haul them out, then dispose of all those bodies.
Why in God's name can't pet owners take their pets with them? What is the point of this?
People for the most part will care for their animals if they can be allowed to evacuate with them.
This whole fiasco is unbelievable.
Yes, I know that's true. It just seems this situation should never have gotten to this point.
People should be allowed to take their animals with them. Saves so much trouble later.
The ones left out there now after almost 2 weeks are in desparate condition. There aren't enough resources to nurse them all back to health.
Just nightmarish.
"I for one don't want ONE SINGLE Federal worker risking their life for a DOG or a CAT."
You don't seem to know many DOD people, then. I've taken part in two hurricane cleanups, while on active duty. Most military people like animals, and will go out of their way to help them, even under trying circumstances. Nobody makes them do it. So why aren't our troops welcome to do so? Because someone went an made YOU king?
