I am sure that Murdoch knew putting some muslim symbol in his design would please the judges, he was playing to the judges, not the public.

The design of the memorial is an abomination. The message it sends is not one of freedom, but one of terror which will be promoted on jihadist web sites in short order. It is not a tribute to the fallen heroes of Flight 93, but a gift to the likes of Osama Bin Laden who will trumpet it as a victory for jihad.
The memorial should prominently display the symbols of America. The heroes of Flight 93 should be depicted as angels of freedom, who flew on the wings of eagles making the ultimate of human sacrifice in defense of their fellow Americans.
