NAGIN: Let's make sure the 100,000+ poor people without vehicles cannot leave New Orleans for inland shelters. Let's fail to declare a mandatory evacuation until just a few hours before the Cat. 4/5 hurricane and then keep all the buses sitting uselessly until they're flooded. Then let's pile countless thousands into a couple of "shelters" with no emergency generators or back-up plans for dealing with a stay of more than a few hours.

BLANCO: Good ideas, and I'll make sure that my state Homeland Security Dept. blocks relief agencies such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army from bringing in food and water! I'll keep the LA NG largely out of the picture until it's too late to do anything, and then you and I can start loudly blaming the feds for everything.

ME: WOW, these have to be two of the savviest, kindest, most 'sensitive' Demagogues out there! Don't you think they belong in CONGRESS???

The media is too dense or too partisan to report that the STATE OF LOUISIANA Department of Homeland Security was responsible. For some strange reason it is reported as though the agency is a federal agency. Can't figure out why they would do such a thing. Cough, cough.

This is almost making my husband's tin foil hat conspiracy theory seem plausible.

He thinks Blanco intentionally created the pandemonium in NO in order to either blame it on Bush or to force Bush to federalize the troops, at which time all the Dems would be screaming that he superceded the state's rights and calling for his impeachment.

If Fox keeps this up the other networks will be out of business within the year. I hope Major Garrett gets assigned to investigate and report on the saga of the unused NO buses. Both school and city transit. That story will uncover for the nation the state of corruption in NO and La that preceded the Katrina catastrophe. The way Gov Blanco has been essentially countermanding the NO Mayor, I have to conclude that No had little local control over anything. No wonder the Mayor was consulting lawyers before taking action. Louisiana is one messed up state. And I hope for every taxpayer's sake that every cent that the government sends to La has a Brink's guard attached to make sure it reaches it's intended destination.

I made the mistake of getting into an email debate about this issue with the fool at "raw story". He said that Fox News was not a reliable news source, the Red Cross FAQ didn't prove anything and of course that I probably didn't make it past 8th grade.

Gotta love those Liberals.

Dog, it wasn't just food and water that Louisiana state officials refused to let through to the hurricane victims in N.O. -- it was DOCTORS too...

Red tape strands medical aid for Katrina victims
(Louisiana officials blocked team of doctors from coming to aid of desperately ill New Orleanians)

The critical information is buried deep in this article -- not mentioned until the second to last paragraph.

****All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there. ***

I wouldnt hold my breath waiting. It doesnt fit their "Blame it on Bush "agenda.

Even if Bush had somehow transported every last person to a luxury resort and filled their bank accounts with $25 million each, it wouldn't matter. The press will tell the sheeple that he did a lousy job, the press will run its polls and ratings and it will still seem as if Bush did a lousy job. The truth simply is no longer relevant when it comes to popular opinion.

Blanco will probably wind up being Secretary of Defense under Hillary and we'll all get nailed by terrorists... and it'll still be blamed on the Republicans. I'm afraid we're going to have to hit "bottom" before anyone realizes what's been going on.

... he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

CNN revealed it when Larry King interviewed Red Cross president.

Ann Rodgers of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette persits, to this day, in the opinion that the Feds were the ones who kept the Red Cross out. Her article appeared SEptember 3rd, and she's been getting hammered on issuing a correction.

Due to e-mails such as yours I called the Red Cross again to make sure I had not misunderstood them in our conversations about Homeland Security and FEMA. (The F stands for Federal). They said my story was not in error. As when I was working on the story last week, the media offices of Homeland Security and FEMA have not returned my phone calls. This is the case even though I explained today that I was calling because I was concerned that I might have printed something about them that was erroneous. The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security and and Emergency Preparedness is currently impossible to reach because whatever phone lines are working down there are overwhelmed. If the story is in error I will be more than happy to write a correction, but the Red Cross stands by what it originally told me. Sincerely, Ann

Perhaps that the DNC and the party officials and their press corp lackeys have known from the start that not only were the Governor and Mayor incompetent in their evacuation plans but to alleviate the problem(and cover their a$$) of people caught in the Superdome and elsewhere they decided to starve them out of NO.
Pelosi and the rest of the rats are hoping that if they make enough noise this will all get lost in the chaos they are creating.
We must not let them get away with this abominable diversion attempt.

I heard Major Garrett on Hannity this afternoon. He is not dropping this story. He is going to interview the head of the Red Cross and investigate all correspondence and phone logs between the State of LA and the Red Cross

Go Major!!!

This is probably so that they can stick with the line that people must be evacuated because they have no services. It is also nice and handy for grabbing there guns on the way out:
