The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.
I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.
I thought about that too.
It would NOT surprise me.
They are SO DESPERATE to get their power back.
NOTHING is beneath them!
NOTHING!!!!
BUMP!!!
"Here ya go:"
"ATTENTION MEDIA LURKERS THIS STORY IS NOT GOING AWAY NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU IGNORE IT.."
.....Who cooked this up?....
If you check my posts you will see that I said this was happening from the beginning. In my view, the policy was good but the execution was a tragedy of errors.
It was obvious that once the levee broke the city was doomed. Those remaining had to leave. Most didn't want to go but as the situation became better known it was obvous to most of those left they had erred in staying and needed to leave. It was equally obvious that it was impossible to take care of those who remained. The only way to get them to leave was to withhold service, gather them up at the Dome and then ship them out of harms way. Think tough love.
It all worked pretty well except for the transport part. As of now we know the gathering up process worked but the shipping out part did not. Eventually we will learn what happened between the Mayor and the Governor that snarled the transport. This is the post levee break transport when the local busses were out of the picture. It would have been a great success had the transport been provided.
The point was that it was completely impossible for the prople to stay or to deliver services. Any effort to deliver services in the flooded city would have been disaster in itself.
Hey Mike there is a troll on the loose on the forum..
"Exactly. He also needs a much stronger voice in the press secretary position. The time is now to fight back. The president must stay on the high road, but someone has got to fight back."
I have said for the past five years that Bush needs a "War Room". Dan Bartlett, Scott McClellan, and Co. have not served the President well. Pagin Karen Hughes...
Cancel Mike...one of the Kitties got the troll.
Good idea. Unfortunately, I can't recall who posts those lists/links.
However, anyone can Google their Senators and Congresscritter and find out the phone numbers (usually both the Washington office and local offices are listed on their web sites).
BTTT
Not unbeatable, but you have to try beat them first.
Here's a good webpage that gives the basics of posting graphics, and other html tips. It makes it real easy.

Who owns the MSM? Corporate America? Hmmmm.
Then is it in the interests of Corporate America to keep you glued to the TV and thereby see (even if subliminaly) their advertising?
I turn the pork forkers off every time I get a chance.
Coulter and Jesse on Hannity tonight.
If I recall correctly the percentage of Dems was slightly greater in Gallop with the numbers 36% in approval, 37% in disaproval. You adjust for that slight disparity and That sounds like the usual partisan breakdown we saw last election. That leaves a large percentage that didn't side on other side. Which pretty much means the public remains where they were last November.
It also started over 50% didn't hold him personally to blame.
It stated 3/4ths blamed locale/state only 2/3rds blamed FEMA/FEDS, and this when some in nuMedia were running from Bush.
It was a good poll for him considering the source. Why do you think the Libs are ignoring it?
I know for a fact that this convoy was to leave Charlotte, NC, on the morning of Thursday, September 1 ... and late that evening it still had not left because of lack of permission to go to LA. I'm not sure when they finally left for their amended destination ... Mississippi. But their services are most welcome there.
Huh, and your cowering in the corner in the fetal position about what howard fineman says is going to beat them how?
I am going to call Senator Lindsey Graham tomorrow, but you know what I think of him.
It's true what you say about getting on television shows. Since that's not happening, I think our Congressmen should have a large press conference and invite the press. They'd have to cover it.
But I am going to make calls and spam the pertinent threads to encourage others to do the same.
Now THAT'S an understatement.
The Orleans Parish School Board was taken over by a management restructing firm in July because of rampant corruption, mismanagement, and a $45 million budgetary deficit.
Taken over to the extent that the Superintendent is now called "CEO", even in the N.O. newspapers. And they have put very tight reins on spending authority across the board (in one specific instance because of payroll double dipping).
The Republicans are reacting to the MSM, because they are COWARDS.
I have defended the President at family gatherings, against the boyfriend of my best friend, on talk radio.
How come a Midwestern grandmother has the courage to do this, and the elected Republicans don't?
I am keeping a list of the wesels and cowards. They will never get a dime from me, andnone will ever get my vote.
Newt Gingrich andBobby Jindal, you are at the top of the list!!
