The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.
I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.
I don't know. I do know that I'm utterly dismayed that almost no one but Garret and FR is hollering about this. Why nothing from the Bush admin?
Welcome to Free Republic...
Yes that is exactly true. No way to hurt Bush, no story
The media always had a bias, but it was usually veiled, kept secret by just putting unflattering adjectives in front of Republicans and not questioning Dems. But during this catastrophe, it has been unhidden and I truly fear treason by those "journalists"
" The State of Louisiana committed negligent homicide."
Maybe MG can next investigate why Alberto Gonzales is not launching a criminal probe .
Where is the FBI ?
MG also had sound bites from members of the Louisiana National Guard-who looked very angry that they were part of the media /Democrat scapegoat movement.
The speakers said that they " were not tasked " to provide food and water to the Superdome-but, they did.
The Governor " tasks " them.
She's a female Democrat-but, don't tell anyone.
They reminded the media that the mayor said " this would be like a camp out " and everyone should bring 3 days worth of food and water-but, they didn't.
In addition-just saw on Paula Zahn's show-pictures taken on late Monday or early Tuesday at the Superdome and the place had already been trashed beyond description.
The photographer ( apparently for a major news org, his ID is being kept secret ) was so incensed by the wanton destruction, that he had to document it.
Major has been doing incredible work, as most have at FOX ( what has happened to Greg Kelly ??!!-he's the FOX version of David Gregory )-while the rest of the media continues to fall further and further down the rat hole.
I have been, but it would be nice to have some help from the Republican leadership.
Bump bump Bump
I didn't know if I was going to tackle this, but since you've requested, I'll produce. :)
I thought there was something odd about her stonewalling on the original emergency declarations and on the offers for federal DoD assistance.
Odd meaning sinister. Covering up.
Then the mandated evac for homeowners on dry ground, protecting their property. Almost as if they wanted no witnesses for further looting, and empty houses in order to declare eminent domain (developer deals, wink wink).
Now this, and it makes one think they're hiding something else. Or they want to control the news coverage, and having objective eyewitnesses will spoli their plan.
Weird.
Don't know. Keep watching FOX. Hannity will probably replay. It's been the same woman.
maybenextyear? maybethenextcentury the way you guys keep going.
Now, part of the problem is that talk shows only air those guests they invite. You will remember that Tim Russert didn't have Blanco or Nagin on...only Chertoff). If our guys can't get on, they can't defend.
On the other hand, I have a list which I will keep until I die, of those Republicans and pundits who got air time and criticized the President and gave the locals a pass.
I am calling Lugar tomorrow. I suggest everyone call their senatos and congess critters and ask WHY they aren't speaking out.
Thos people, even if they can't get air time with the leftist media, could be sending statements via e-mail, mailings, local appearances, etc. We need to make them crawl out of their holes and DO IT!!!
Duh, where is that master of the obivious gif when you need it.
You are also thinking that the media is unbeatable. Sorry they ain't and they are a paper tiger, no matter your trying to make them superman.
BTW, tell hillary to wash old crusty(pantsuit).
Welcome Newbie! I see it's your first day here.
The negligence all goes to Gov Blanco and who ever put her up to it.
An unanswered charge is treated as true.
His enemies can make the wildest charges and he allows them to take and keep the high ground.
That's a losing position.
Bush simply should boldly and repeatedly state, "We will get to the bottom of the delay in getting help to those at the Superdome. We will find out exactly who should have evacuated and fed the poor of New Orleans who were trapped by the flood with no escape."
The Democrats would start running for the tall grass. They would never allow full congressional hearings to expose the blood on their own hands.
My Philly Talk radio picked up Major Garrett's reporting from last night about the Red Cross and the Mayor's comments of not using the school buses because there were no bathrooms
A large percentage of the callers were hot about this news
This story is getting out to the public
My Senator is Lautenberg...I'm afraid he won't help...:-)
Good points, E.
I heard Major Garrett on Hannity this afternoon. He is not dropping this story. He is going to interview the head of the Red Cross and investigate all correspondence and phone logs between the State of LA and the Red Cross
Go Major!!!
- that has a few of its people under investigation for misuse of disaster relief funds.
Well, if Lautenberg won't help, try Corzine. On second thought...
