Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 11:38 a.m. EDT Ray Nagin: School Buses Not Good Enough
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin garnered a ton of publicity with a profanity-laced interview he gave to WWL radio last Thursday, where he blasted President Bush and Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco for not coming to rescue his city in time.
However, Nagin's most newsworthy comments - where he explained why he didn't used hundreds of city school buses to evacuate his city's flood victims - went almost unnoticed.
Turns out, Nagin turned his nose up at the yellow buses, demanding more comfortable Greyhound coaches instead. "I need 500 buses, man," he told WWL. "One of the briefings we had they were talking about getting, you know, public school bus drivers to come down here and bus people out of here."
Nagin described his response:
"I'm like - you've got to be kidding me. This is a natural disaster. Get every doggone Greyhound bus line in the country and get their asses moving to New Orleans."
While Nagin was waiting for his Greyhound fleet, Katrina's floodwaters swamped his school buses, rendering them unusable.

Under the same conditions, 99% of Freepers would swear in much the same way. Get a clue.

Let's look on the bright side. With Ray Nagin around, the New Orleans Saints are no longer the city's biggest losers.

Get every doggone Greyhound bus line in the country and get their asses moving to New Orleans. This quote, better than all combined, exposes the complete lack of common sense this guy has. Maybe this quote will be evidence in his trial. To even think that a bus could come from other States in time to evacuate people...I am speechless.

That kid is a hero in my book. Perhaps he could replace Ray Nagin to be mayor of what's left of NO.

Yeah, Nagin is an idiot, just like his constituants who stayed in NO.
It makes a lot of sense: instead of using the school buses, let's have the federal government confiscate ALL the greyhound buses in the country, even though the buses are all over NO. Idiot.
Him and blanco should get married and have a baby.

It's about saving lives. If a 20 year old kid could figure out how to drive a bus, I'm sure lots of folks could. Better to have tried, then to just sit around and let people drown.
To: InvisibleChurch
I heard a clip of that rant on a local radio station last week. I bet you that this bottom feeding, racist piece of trash applies for one of those $2000 debit cards that FEMA is giving to all the victims.

Last year(?) here in Denver, a local homeless coalition were pissed because the homeless were given turkey, dressing, etc. on Thanksgiving instead of a spaghetti dinner that they were hoping for. You just can't beat an entitlement mindset.

But the same Mayor who wouldn't bus his constituents to safety is quite able to send his police officers to Las Vegas.
Or, as Cyber Ant said last night, the Democrats can bus these people all over the state on election day, but can't bus them a few miles to safety.

Nagin is not a leader at all. The way he talks in the news conferences shows how lame he is, along with his blame at all costs... anyone!
