Even Mexican soldiers?

I knew illegal immigration was going out of control!

It's a terrible thing that the enlightened people who post on this sight would attack you for stating something that is obvious to any student of history. A world power that is not expanding is contracting there is no static position.

Among the 190 some participants in the convoy are doctors, nurses and engineers.

And, when it's time to go home, how many of these will "disappear" into our country?

"Mexican President Vicente Fox brushed aside complaints from some opponents who said he should have sought Congressional approval for the operation"

Question: Is it legal for a foreign army to go into another country without permission? Wouldn't it be an act of war?

"Mexican Army Convoys Head for U.S. to Deliver Aid to Hurricane Katrina Victims"

MEXICO CITY Sep 7, 2005 —

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The trucks, carrying 195 unarmed soldiers, officers and specialists, were expected to arrive in Laredo, Texas, sometime early Thursday, the president's office said. From there they are to proceed to Houston, where they will apparently be used to produce water and hot meals.

The convoy included two mobile kitchens that can feed 7,000 people each per day, three flatbed trucks carrying mobile water treatment plants, and 15 trailers of bottled water, blankets and applesauce.

It also includes military engineers, doctors and nurses."

"Hurricane Katrina's Aftermath
Foreign workers feel left in limbo"

By Ian Urbina
The New York Times

Biloxi, Miss. -

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "There are worries, too, about those who may not have survived the storm. Mexico has opened two mobile consulates in the affected areas, one in Mobile, Ala., and the other in Baton Rouge, La., to begin looking for tens of? thousands of its citizens reported missing. The authorities in Mexico estimated that 145,000 Mexicans live in the area. There also are an estimated 130,000 Hondurans."

Fox has expressed concern that the 100,000 plus illegals in the affected area might be afraid to seek help from American officials, so he wants to provide them a safe source of assistance.

Help is appreciated, in spite of other issues with Mexico.

That sounds like 35 trucks that need a good going over by drug sniffing dogs.

Perhaps, but I know no law-abiding human (as opposed to a passive and ignorant believer in the doctrine of victimology) who would even SIT for 3 weeks w/o trying his or her best to get something going for him or herself.

Rebellious, h*ll. MEN and WOMEN won't and don't sit around waiting for handouts; they get busy.

When you don't have the jack for a phone call, a buss ride or even a newspaper, it's damned hard to look for a job.

And you have no idea what MEN and WOMEN would do after a week on a roof in the sun with no food and little water.

Have you been through a hurricaine, even with supplies?

Have you lived through the shock of losing literally everything you own, down to the pictures of your loved ones?

Besides which, my point was the need to get some cash to the trash, so they wouldn't start preying on the citizens of Houston.
17,000 of the 25,000 refugees have already left the Astrodome. It's the 8,000 dregs that are the worry.

Fully agreed with your last pgh. Yes, I have lost, literally, everything on one occasion, but not due to a hurricane, back in 1976. BTDT.
