All this need now is a photo of those NOPD vehicles parked in Houston! Anyone know how to get a picture? Maybe they are outside in the downtown lot?
bttt
"Who was it that use to say that?"
I think I remember the character Rochester in one of the Jack Benny Movies saying it.
The Great Chicago Fire
The Exxon Valdez disaster
The Great Molasses Flood (aka Boston Molasses Disaster)
A: They are all man-made calamities.
This list of American calamities now includes
The Nagin/Blanco LACK-vacuation
(AKA the Great New Orleans LACK-Vacuation)
Very incriminating photo! Why didn't Bush and FEMA supply bus drivers and maps showing the way out??? You couldn't expect local authorities to do anything, they were following the Mayor to Baton Rouge and besides, they're all oppressed by the white power establishment. It's still all BUSH'S FAULT!
This sounds so reasonable to all of us because we are people who take responsibility for ourselves. To all the liberal masses it's incomprehensible. They think that 3 days before the storm Bush should have commandeered every greyhound bus in the country and personally led a convoy down there, picked everyone up and ordered the bus drivers to take the people wherever they wanted to go and had a furnished fully stocked apartment ready and waiting for them there. Then he should have sent 500,000 thousand US troops in there to get all the people out that didn't want to go and all the pets. And when the whole city was evacuated and Katrina came through and no one was killed, the liberals would still be whining that he didn't do all he could to save the buildings.
I know I have seen it in an old movie. But I can't recall which one it was.
Mr. Keeping-Up-With-Their-Jones is mental. He wanted the feds to "get off their asses" and yet his Plan was nothing more than telling people to use the FMT transit system. Feets Make Tracks. If you're a prisoner, you're free to walk. If you're a nursing home patient, you better float.
Where is the authority who will charge him with criminally negligent homicide?
Thanks, Enterprise!
Your Photo Shop work might be relivant if the arrows pointing the the dry land in "West Bank New Orleans" were actually pointing to "West Bank New Orleans." However, they are pointing to Algiers.
At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.
Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, and shelter.
If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you.
Right now the site mostly covers Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio but I will add various churches, schools, and other charities in Ft. Worth and Lubbock tonight. My wife spent yesterday at Reunion Arena in Dallas handing out care packages and otherwise ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer.
There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would greatly appreciate it if you would get the word out.
Many thanks,
Michael McCullough
Stingray blogsite
Look, guys, lay off the racial stereotyping- this helps no one and only embarrases us as Americans. The issue is a much more serious one- this is demonstrable criminal negligence by an elected official- Mayor Nagin. The so-called "plan" to protect NOLA and its citizens amounted to little more than tossing the keys to the Superdome to those unable or unwilling to evacuate the city. So far all I have seen Nagin do is jump up and down (from the safety of Baton Rouge) and scream about the slow response by the federal government- evidently unaware that his own administration carries the primary responsibility for designating suitable evacuation points, stockpiling them with supplies and providing security for the citizens of NOLA. Similarly culpable is the indecisive Kathleen Blanco who is more preoccupied with blocking the feds from saving the day and further embarrassing her corrupt administration.
I am hoping that after (stress after) this ordeal is over, that an investigation is launched and will 1) vindicate the federal government and Bush administration as it focused correctly on search and rescue in the first stages after the storm and 2) produce charges against Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco for their failure to have an effective evacuation plan for the city and the region.
Very True, even benign comments meant to lighten up a terrible situation can be easily mis-construed.
1. The planned bus evacuation would have saved many lives.
2. And failing that, stocking the designated shelters properly would have saved lives and much suffering untill the state second line of defense could arrive.
3. The Houston Astrodome, it turns out, is always stocked for potential Galveston evacuees!
Gawd almighty.
Shameless.
Tie this photo in with the other buss photos and the data from the N O School board where they authorized about 2000 school buses to be available for evacuation of refugees, and you have real shame.
We have to keep getting this hard data out so the liberals will walk away from this.
