CNN Headline news reporter just stated that the military will not force folks from their homes. "Refusing to force Americans from their homes", said the noticeably British reporter. Further, they will not let residents deteriorate in their own homes. The military will continue to get water and food to those remaining in New Orleans, effectively undermining Nagin's mandatory evacuation order.

RG: I agree, but Bush is going to get blamed if people AREN'T focibly evacuated. Do you think they're going to blame Nagin? No WAY! They're going to say "Why didn't Bush "federalize" the city."

I just heard this idiot mayor say the mosquitos would bite dead bodies and then bite people thereby spreading disease. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong but mosquitos feed on blood as in live people. They don't bite dead people! The more I see this mayor the more I understand the helplessness of his people. Does anybody else see what I see here? He is treating everyone as though they are ignorant enough to believe the mosquitos are going to bite dead bodies! And the stupid news media is not questioning it!!

Too bad some of your "non-newbies" apparently don't have the intellectual CAPACITY to debate and have to go CRYING to you like sniveling little children.

I agree. But many people on this thread are acting like it's a "property rights" issue. It's not. The areas in New Orleans that were underwater are not safe to live in. If someone wants to say, fine, I guess that's their "right". But then, mark my words, when someone dies of starvation or dehdryhation, or because they drowned or something, the MSM will blame President Bush because he didn't FORCE the mayor to start arresting the NUT JOBS who insisted on staying and living int the middle of a toxic sludge-filled city.
The point is he is forcing everyone to leave, even though some of them are on dry land, with utilities running and miles from the flooding. Doesn't this send off some alarm bells as in eminent domain?

Apply this to illegal immigration.

I bet you that developers are starting to circle. Nagin's got visions of emminent domain dancing in his head. And if there's nobody to protest their homes and neighborhoods being bulldozed for commercial development, so much the better.Those developers had better be careful about spending upfront money because I have a feeling the city and state aren't going to have a lot of say in the redevlopment. Unless they are planning on paying for it out of their own pockets.

Good for the President! That's why HE wanted control over the military - so idiots like Nagin could not order them to do stupid stuff.

what would be the reason to force the residents out that aren't in sewer water?
So far as I read, there is no power or fresh water. By staying they are exposing themselves to disease from the polluted water that is there, even if it's not on their street.

Congress is responsible for allowing illegal immigration, yet all fingers point to President Bush. Liberals are not going to sit idly by if the president were to call for deportation of millions.

What's right with this guy would be much less wordy As we say in the "trade", he has poor decision making skills.

What CNN seems to be missing here is that a mandatory evacuation order does the following, as I understand it:
Warns people to go or their lives are at risk;
Helps ensure larger numbers will go;
If people stay, alerts people that they take their lives in their hands;
Releases the government officials for responsibility for deaths that ensue among those who ignore the order.

The military is very wise to distance itself from this mission. PTA President Nagin trying to flex his muscle, the way I see it.
My apologies to real PTA preidents.
