Military says "No." to Nagin (Won't take part in Mayor's debacle)
CNN | 9/7/05 | CNN Headline News

Posted on 09/07/2005 5:41:44 AM PDT by RGSpincich

CNN Headline news reporter just stated that the military will not force folks from their homes. "Refusing to force Americans from their homes", said the noticeably British reporter. Further, they will not let residents deteriorate in their own homes. The military will continue to get water and food to those remaining in New Orleans, effectively undermining Nagin's mandatory evacuation order.

A fourty foot dyke will stop it cold. I recently heard that when they raised the dykes in the past, they didn't widen the bases appropriately. This caused the failures.

Nagin is planning the largest eminent domain land grab in history.

Let him. Half the residents won't be coming back, anyway. It will be a total bust and the developers will take it on the chin.

It's called posse commitatus. Good on the military. Nagin and Blanco now have to cover up their own incompetence.

You'll have a bunch of dead Elian Gonzalez type commandos if they try to force armed homeworker's out of there house. I know I would give them hell and the military knows it to.

Unlessn martial law is declared (something ONLY the Congress can do) people cannot be forcibly removed from their homes. Only the Governor of the state has the power to ask Congfress to declare martial law and she must be asked by the Mayor to do so. He may have asked but she hasn't done it therefore making it moot.

These politicians down in Louisiana are a bunch of incompetent fools. They prove it more and more each day.

"Unfortunately for Louisiana...both of them are blank."

That's a winner. Heh!

Send them their Official IBM T-shirts. The ones that are printed on the back with:

"This page brain is intentionally left blank."

An expert says that the water was 45,000 times normal levels. If ingested, this could lead to severe health problems. Let them know that and if they stay, what elese can you do?

Here's an idea. If these people don't want to leave, all able-bodied residents should be hired to work in the recovery and cleanup process. That way they won't just be a burden, requiring food and water deliveries, but contributing nothing.

Some people are prepared for these things. I know I can turn my water and power off and go for a couple of weeks without any outside assistance right now. With 24 hours
notice it's just a matter of getting a few gallons of gas,
a couple of tanks of propane a few perishables and all my laundry done and I'm ready to go a couple of months.

Not only dry, but as of this morning, power and water are restored as well as phone service.

Nagin just keeps proving his incompetence along with his criminality.

Well, he didn't force them to leave when it would have helped, so why not force them now?

Give them a magic marker and tell them to write their social security number on their arms, so their bodies will be easy to identify when they're recovered.

I don't know how Nagin thought he could force an evacuation, especially of the sections that are dry.

Good for the military.
