Don't tell me...your mom watches Dr. Phil also.. right?

We need to send in someone to deprogram you MOM!

Just kidding...my mom watched Oprah before she died...I would just listen to her go on and on...but mostly about books.

My Mom loved to read...and Oprah's book club was right up her alley.

I don't know about having those NO teachers working in Texas schools...

That might not fly...you know in Dallas, the principals and teachers are being required to be bi-lingual, but I don't think they mean English and CAJUN>....LOLOL

Exactly...if Nagin had put those people on all of those buses and just told the driver to drive...

NO ONE would have told them to turn around and go back into the hurricane...Nagin is a weasel.

MSNBC (I think) showed film of one of the N.O. Hospitals with 17 bodies covered with sheets. The cameraman who filmed this also went into the Superdome and filmed a number of dead bodies in the freezer there. He (the cameraman) was having a difficult time coping after filming these corpses.

There were shelters opened in other parts of the state or could have been opened as the need arose. We had several shelters opened for evacuees before the storm made landfall. There were several thousand here in the shelters, hotels, staying with family and various churches.

They simply did not execute the plan they had. All they had to do was to get to Baton Rouge and the other parts of the state that would not be in the path of the storm could transport people there. It was possible, difficult maybe but possible.

I see your screen name, and I hope you weren't offended by my Cajun joke...regarding the NO teachers in Texas.

Personally, I would much rather have the kids be taught anything but what they are being taught..which is if you are Mexican you DO NOT have to learn English...not to start a border spat on this thread).

Regarding evacuation....I heard on O'Reilly tonight, an official said that NO had a hurricane "drill" last year...don't you think that the subject of where to evacuate the citizens of NO would have been discussed then.

I just cannot beleive that there was no where that would take them...per Geraldo!

Do you still have any hurricane people left...or have they all gone to relatives homes or what?

If you do have some...do you have all that you need?

yupper.. Dr. Phil, the view; Pat Robertson etc.. she reads a lot too & blessed with a strong mind & good eyes but lousy back, knees, orthopaedics in general.

she is 87 & a complete invalid. I am her caregiver & in her home. She is basically a dem but voted for GWB this year.. PTL! She wasn't on time for absentee so I gave her my ballot. Geeze.. not sure I would have sent it in if it were for sKerry (another issue?)

:-)

They need hand sanitizer, the waterless kind!!!!

I just heard from amom. Today she is in Irwinville, tomorrow Buloxi. Today she helped reunite a mom, 2 month old baby, 10 year old, and grandmother with the husband/father/son. They heard that he was in a motel in Beaumont Texas. They called the motel, no one by that name, amom said the mom almost passed out. She held her while they did a little more research. Turned out there are two of that motel there. The family is now together. She said that there are many, many families that are reuniting.

Yesterday and today, Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson has been working in the centers. She came for a few hours but has stayed. Ms. Cartwright has organized two soccer teams, children's activities, book readings, and so much more. I'm not sure if she will also be traveling to Buloxi.

amom said that reality is beginning to set in. Parents and older children are feeling the loss of friends and family, but are grateful for everything that is provided. The folks in this shelter left before the storm, and about 75 to 100 left yesterday and today to join found family.

Please pray for everyone of the survivors, volunteers, and the donors.

IF I were still married it would be 38 for me..but I left after 22 years.

Okay.. this "chatter" is off tract.. but I was just thinking.. there is a bit of an overall "lull" now.. WE know the dead are dead. the bodies will be hopefully recovered & we will watch as they are ID'd or as in the Galveston situation, mass creamation.

The blame game is full throttle forward & repulsive.

The wonderful kids, our troops.. not kids but men & women who are going to endure the most awful situations imaginable are going to clean up death houses, remove stinky bodies, find beloved dead pets, be yelled at by ungrateful people who refused to leave and in general get a PhD without credit in their months/years(?) of work there.

Well, Bless your heart---taking care of your mother like you do is a wonderful thing to do. I mean that.

I am glad her mind is strong...and that she can read. My father always told me to make it a habit to learn something new every day.

I used to learn from books, but I find that I learn from reading Free Republic every day...and I have learned so much. Not just useful information, but about people. Like you, and my life is so much richer for it.

Thank you...and tell your MOM that if Oprah makes her happy, well then, that's alright.

Well OUR evacuees are complaining, via local news tonight, they aren't getting "what they were promised." They are very unhappy about being here in Meridian, Ms.

They have NO idea how WE feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of all, WE wonder what THEY were promised and by WHO??????????

lack of appreciation & major complaining is always disheartening, isn't it?

I believe if I were down in the Gulf area or around anyone that has been in touch with that water...I would be carrying a hugh box of latex gloves...

they would never be off my hands, except to change them.

That "lull" is hanging heavy in the air . . . and yes, I think it's because the death toll figures (and of course, names when available) are about to start being released . . . these are going to be days of Hell for loved ones . . .

Hey - thanks. Mr. Peach is on the phone with the kids.

25 year (and they said it would never last - LOL).

I got 25 roses, brunch out and dinner out. No cookin'.

In the goofy card (not the romantic one), I wrote to Mr. Peach:

Thank you for putting up with listening to me complain about politics for 25 years.

Thank you for putting up with listening to me say swear words in the study as I read the truth on FR and listen to the lies on television.

Thank you for not being embarrassed when I accidentally said LOL instead of laughing.

Thank you for not being nuts with me when I talk about people by their screen name and you have NO idea who I'm talking about, but nodding appreciatively anyway.
