Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 11:38 p.m. EDT Mayor Nagin: Gov. Blanco Delayed Rescue
After days of blaming the federal officials for not responding quickly enough to the Hurricane Katrina crisis, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin praised President Bush on Monday - and charged that Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco had delayed federal rescue efforts by 24-hours.
"I'm so happy that the president came down here," Nagin said of Bush's Friday visit to Louisiana in an interview with CNN. "He came down and saw it, and he put a general on the field. His name is General Honore. And when he hit the field, we started to see action."
But Nagin had harsh words for his state's leaders, telling CNN: "What the state was doing, I don't frigging know. But I tell you, I am pissed. It wasn't adequate." The New Orleans Democrat said he urged Bush to meet privately with Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco during the visit. The meeting took place aboard Air Force One, he said.
After reviewing the crisis with Gov. Blanco, Bush summoned Nagin for a private chat - where, according to Nagin, Bush explained: "Mr. Mayor, I offered two options to the governor. I said . . . I was ready to move today. The governor said she needed 24 hours to make a decision."
Reacting to the governor's footdragging, Nagin lamented: "It would have been great if we could of left Air Force One, walked outside, and told the world that we had this all worked out."
"It didn't happen, and more people died."
If the RAT mayor is turning on the RAT governor, you know a whole lot of gumbo is about to hit the fan.
All things considered, it's good that he did not.
A word of advice Mayor, "Watch your back."
"I was appalled by Governor Bianco's comments during the crisis."
and the people suffer when they elect ignorant, incompetent Dim'Rat leaders. bad choice of a Gov. uggggghhhhhhhhh!
Well, you should hear what the N.O. citizens are telling us here in Houston. They telling us what mean people are in N.O. and how mistreated they've been treated there. They love Texas, Houston because they're being treated like human beings with respect.
The Louisiana politicans are hearing this and are now talking about bringing them back to Louisiana and housing them in a military base. Very few will return to Louisiana.
Greta is going to Louisiana tomorrow because the Louisiana Politicans feel slided...everyone is praising Texas for our care of these poor displaced people. So now will these folks become a political thing. Crap...Louisiana could have cared less about these poor folks...that's why they weren't evacuated...they had NO place to put them. [Bet Greta is going to Louisiana 'cause of Louisiana politics]
I bet they won't show the video clip of those flooded out buses either more than once.
"So the CIA didn't get him after all? "
Bush told him, if you want to walk, you will talk. (:>)
24 hours for what?
I wonder if General Honore had a little chat with Mayor Nagin.
They probably felt like East Germans right after the Wall fell who made their first trip to the West.
I guess they haven't heard what he's had to say yet. ROTF.....What'll they catch up! Boy, they'll be demading he be hung in a flooded street!
BUMP
"Nagin endorsed Jindal in the governor's race over Blanco. "
I smell the stank of 'recall the vote' a la Calif ex-gov Gray Davis. Bring on Jindal. Recall Nagin too.
LOL...freedom at last...we're off the plantation at last.
You have just seen "Bubba" Nagins campaign slogan for the next governors election in La.
Boy...his crude language would be better served privately.
I do know that before she praised the President for his "BOLD MOVE" of declaring LA a disaster area BEFORE the storm.
I also know that after the storm she hired James Lee Witt "TO SPEAK FOR ME AT THE TABLE" thereby advertising her incompetence for all the world to see.
I am also starting to wonder if some of the National Guard troops now stationed in New Orleans, wish they were in Baghdad instead.

Blanco should be impeached, and then indicted.
