Eventually, the school district acknowledged it had no policy preventing a student from praying during free time, and allowed Yasmeen to use an empty classroom to unfurl her prayer rug, face Mecca and touch her head to the floor in a few moments of worship. Her case was part of a nationwide grass-roots effort by Muslim parents to make public schools more friendly and accommodating to Muslim students. The movement has gained strength since the September 11 terror attacks. "The reality for many Muslim students in public schools is very difficult," said Ingrid Mattson, vice president of the Islamic Society of North America. "It's highly stressful."

The reality for Christians ain't easy either. They are forced to accept homosexual behavior, not allowed to pray and ridiculed.
Why get them involved? They'll just stick up for the muzzie's rights. The only religions the ACLU hates are Christianity and Judaism.
Then the rest of the children should have a place by themselves to pray too. I would not stand for it if my child couldn't pray but another could. It's equal for everyone or no one.
Seems to me the majority of folk there don't give a rip enough to take a stand against the school board! If they did, they'd be up in arms by now! You sow what you reap!
Then why are schools being sued for allowing Christians kids to have clubs after school hours, praying during non-class times, or for being in possession of a Bible on school grounds?
Anything connected with Christianity is being stripped from all government facilities and you can be sued for even talking about it. But the restrictions for muslims are going completely the other way. That is crap!
Absolutely absurd!
Only in our judeo-christian founded society of America it's now almost completely out of the question to speak of your christian belief, hold a bible study after school hours, invoke a prayer before a football game, etc etc without the ACLU raising such a stink crying "seperation of church and state", and now this crapola.
Which I totally respect ones religion to practice how they see fit, (gulp) even the ragheads, it's the hypocrisy of it all that gets me.
If they pray hard enough maybe we can become a "blessed" country like all those Muslim nations in the Middle East and Africa.
And where is the empty room provided for Christain and Jewish kids to pray????
Gee, I wonder how long it'll be before ham is banned from the lunchroom the way peanut butter is.
We all better get used to Ramadan pageants for our kids. Maybe the girls will look cute in those burkahs.
They better offer rooms for other religious groups or this is discriminating against other groups and that is not PC. So if Muslims can have thier prayer rug. You will need a room for Christians,a place with a Torah for the Jewish kids and whome ever else. Otherwise. No prayer rooms for anyone.
Half right. The ONLY religion the ACLU hates is Christianity. A great many of those the ACLU uses to push its agenda are Jewish.
good...
One reason for Catholic schools was that public schools disallowed catholic catechism but taught protestant doctrine...
When I was growing up, our public schools had off for passover...because half the kids were Jewish...
and they served fish on Friday so the Catholic kids could eat at the cafeteria..
Now a days, kids can't even get off for Good Friday services.
We need to let the Muslims get a prayer room, and then make it interdenominational...so the Christian kids can have bible study, and the Catholic kids can go to mass on holy days when they can't take off school...
As for headscarfs: In Pennsylvania, the mennonites and amish wear them...it's in the bible all women are supposed to cover their heads...
Christianity teaches that we are to pray without ceasing. How would the school district propose accommodating that?
Can the kids who want to Slaughter a goat in the halls do so in their free time?
I finally realized today that I'd been having trouble understanding due to some of the language barriers. It's actually "religion of piss". Now it makes sense. Hope this is a help to others.
