New Orleans, Louisiana (AHN) - Apparently suffering from stress and a bit of paranoia, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin tells CNN Saturday night that he believes the CIA will "wipe him out" after his criticism of President Bush and the Federal Government in response to Hurricane Katrina.
Mayor Nagin seemed to have calmed down after meeting with President Bush for two hours on Friday but became stressed again over the current situation still unfolding in his city.
The Mayor has come under serious scrutiny and criticism in the last 72 hours after photos of parking lots filled with school buses that were sitting in a foot of water were released on the Internet. Many critics of the Mayor and Gov. Blanco say the buses could have saved an estimated 20,000 people if they had been used for emergency evacuations which President Bush had declared two days before Katrina hit.

Hey Linda. That is an excellent article.
Does anyone but me think his fear of a "CIA wipeout" might not be a "bad thing" for the poor citizens of NO?
Hey, you didn't hear me say that, guys!!!!
YEAH! What at great graffic! I love it! That kid should get a medal from Bush. I really think we all should write to Bush and ask him to give that kid the Medal of Freedom. With all the shooting in the streets, that kid risked his life, he really did.
Thanks for the ping!
He did not actually say the CIA was going to take him out... right?
If he did, maybe it is time for the mayor to check himself into the loony house.
What I'm wondering is this.
If those trucks had a dry route TO the Dome, couldn't that same dry route be used to truck people FROM the dome? IS that the bridge police would not allow folks to cross?
Looks like the reason was to keep the looters out of the dry and more affluent (I assume more affluent) neighborhood.
The trucks might have made it from the Dome, but I remember when the Guard showed up Friday morning (three days later, not six) they had to travel through water. But they could have brought at least a hundred buses or so from the Westbank without a tire touching water and park them a block away. If they thought about it they also could have brought truckloads of supplies and water.
Didn't Baghdad Bob make the same claim a couple of years ago?
Now there's the smile I've been looking for all day -- ! :)
if this is a joke, shouldn't it say so in the headline? and if not, well...it really is a joke.
Looks like more than a foot of water to me -some attempted spin?
New Orleans Mayor: "CIA Will Wipe Me Out"
That assumes that the CIA could find him. After what Clinton and crew did to that agency they havn't been doing that great a job finding UBL or for that matter Zarqawi. And the latter has almost as many interviews on Al Jazera as Mayor Busride has on CNN.
This guy gets more entertaining every day. His words are being translated to Japanese for the news over here, and my in-laws' jaws drop in amazement every time they hear him speak. He's almost as entertaining as Baghdad Bob!
Except that it may turn out that his mindless negligence as a Mayor (even Willie Brown said he flaked out totally, last night on SanFrancisco TV) may have cost some lives of those too stupid, stubborn, or disabled/down and out who couldn't git out!!!
Nagin's not worth the price of an "accident" or "fatal incident". He's seems to be self-destructing quite well without anyone's covert or overt help. Maybe if he sleeps with a pistol.... Oh, well.
Jack.
Your right, Vinny.
No need to worry. HE DID HIMSELF IN. Me thinks now he's looking for a little pity after his blame game. This major job is way over his capabilities. I guess he thought he was qualified - having a big mouth and wanting all the perks made him the man for the job.
Why would they need to do that? Nagin's doing a great job of killing himself already.
What a lunatic idiot. Small wonder Jesse Jackson is practically wetting himself to defend him. Birds of a feather and all that...
The scum also rises.
Hopefully, his pay will stop. Do you know when is his 'reign' up - when he can no longer stop by 'go' and collect?
