If I get this pasted go to the near bottom of the Washington Post article and see how K. Blanco thought it better to avoid Martial Law declared in her state than to save the lives of her people.
and - she is advised by the law firm of Clintoon's ex, former director Witt in how to avoid a "takeover"

Is there any exploration of what "extreme" means? Just a hinh that when the state governor is able to communicate with the feds, and has some semblance of command and control, then the state governor is entitled to retain command and control.
But, if the governor is out, and there is no command and control, the feds aren't gonna sit on their thumbs.

Yup sorry for that I meant "elected".
In any event, many of our public servants are not elected because of their leadership abilities. They are elected simply because of the color of their skin.

I gotta go to bed ;-) "hinh" above should be "hunch"
My usual poor typing is now officially out of commission until further notice. do NOT, repeat NOT, advise FEMA of this loss of command and control.

That all depends on whether you're in a RED state or a BLUE state! ..

Bush needs to go to the public with this information, address the people directly. If not his presidency is in trouble. As other freepers have also stated, even moderate conservatives or believing the media lies.He has to in order to get any of his agenda completed for this term.I hope they realize this and do it soon, not wait for some congressional hearing.

Sorry for the late response...The County(parrish)mayor is resposible for DP. Then the Governor. The Feds move in when enacted by the Governor. Period.. Note to self (elect competent people to handle crisis situations)

I hope she was being sarcastic, I hope.
However, some people will willingly drink the kool aid and believe anything the race baiter's feed them.
The state emergency management folks did have all major networks on television in their war room.
Why didn't the state of Louisiana do something for the people.

Scarborough is one of the few people in the world I actually hate.
I don't use the word hate too much because there are so few in the world I truly hate but Scarborough is one of them.
It seems he's jumped the shark just as bad as huffington to keep his job on MSNBC which has a zero rating.
The crap he has been spewing the last few days against the Gov't has been unreal. He knows better because his home town has been hit more then once and he knows it takes the feds a few days to get in there.

Maybe they think their job is just a title and a paycheck. They didn't know it actually involved responsibilities of any sort.

It's been pointed out that the Louisiana Democrat party was using payback against Nagin.
I think it just got out of control and Blanco wasn't on top of everything going on under her.

Washingtonpost, Newsweek and MSNBC are all related.

They never had a plan for the breach of the levee's..
And we all had to sit back and witness the pain and suffering of thousands. There was no plan. A Cat 5 storm was bearing down on NOLA and they did squat!

What do you mean?
