Many thanks to all freepers, especially Admin Moderator, NautiNurse, Howlin, Pukin Dog, and others too numerous to mention. Your posts have been a lifeline of hope, sanity and humor during this ordeal."

Same here, thanks to FR its owners, mods, and members.

What about a class action lawsuit on behalf of the general public against the media? Seems to me that, especially in this instance, deliberately reporting falsehoods is endangering the welfare of citizens - like shouting "fire" in a crowded theater, knowing there's not really a fire, but just to "see what would happen."

Been trying to figure out just how we could do that myself. Class action suits destroy productive corporations all the time no reason why it shouldn't do the same for destructive ones.

Sign me on. Wonder how many others would join?

jumping in late today - I heard several LA officials offed themselves....

so we had cops just walk off the job, officials killing themselves, and general mayhem and murder -

Russert just gave away the media's game on NBC live. Says the only way Bush can recover from the criticism is to show great leadership in rebuilding New Orleans.

The same way the only way he can redeem himself for 9/11 being to show geat leadership and rebuild the WTC? The Pentagon?

Russert is a hack. Good to have him telegraphing the attack strategy.

I'm a pretty flexible guy.

If you need someone to kick the chair out from under them, just holler.

Grovel...asphixiate...it's all good.

Um... I *really* hope that you're not insinuating that Texas is doing this for money. Especially since this was initiated before Texas was declared a disaster area.

Unlike LA, we want to keep the kids out of trouble and busy so the parents can go to work or deal with adult problems without having to tote the kids around or worry about what will happen to them in the shelters.

I think that we are going to be surprised by how quickly some parts of this city - get back up and running. in areas that have either no flooding, or street & minor first floor flooding - once they get these pumps going for a couple of weeks and get the electricity turned back on to those areas, you will see alot of indigneous efforts to begin the cleanup in those locations.

While I fully understand the reasoning behind the no pet rules, maybe we need to address the issue. The truth is, many people simply won't leave their animals and having to go back in to rescue those who won't might, in the long run, be more costly to all of us than planning in advance for a few shelters where pet owners can go. I'm not sure how to work out the problems with such shelters, but perhaps their is a way.

I have heard more than one official say that they will consider shelters that allow pets in the future for exactly that reason.

< ..., Krauthammer is right that the President is pulling himself out of a PR disaster. But I think the tide is turning, so to speak. >

I disagree. I don't think it's been a PR disaster. Most of the country is still not buying all the Bush bashing. A lot of people are actually resentful of it, as we are. I think in a week, we will see his numbers up.

In my opinion, this could be very bad for the population at large. What if this flesh-eating bacteria is passed on to others? These families and children should be monitored and deemed healthy before placing them into schools. Plano's school district has decided to get vaccination records first, and they were slammed in an editorial yesterday because of it.

Yep, we found our next Rudy.

I'm serious this guy makes Wesley Clark look like a private on Kitchen Patrol.

If I was Bush this guy would move up very quick to some spot close to the white house.

I had to turn him off after he started arguing that the Pres. was 24 hours too late!

I can't stand listening to that stuff......

I'm watching O'Reilly and Newit .. and they can both blow it out their ears

Yes, there were some mistakes made with Homeland Security and FEMA

But many of those problems would most likely not have occurred if the City of NO and the State of LA HAD DONE THEIR DANG JOB!!

My *real* desire is to have their heads up on pikes outside the state capital, but I'm told that's too primitive and unAmerican. I've therefore modified it accordingly.

Not Texas. But I do suspect the local school districts in all states doing whatever they can to get more federal $ inbound.

Always follow the money.

both Gingrich and OReilly simply will not recognize in the least that this was a NATURAL DISASTER. they talk as if someone caused this hurricane out of neglect, that some human focrce of action created it and steered it into New Orleans. Its a stunningly moronic analysis.
