U.S. commercial air carriers continue transporting tens of thousands of evacuees from the New Orleans airport to destinations throughout the nation.

Rooftop air rescue efforts continue. One rescue chopper crashed late today. Crew members are reported safe. Gunmen who fired upon bridge repair contractors were killed by law enforcement.

To date, an estimated 70 countries and U.S. businesses have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars, supplies, food and equipment to assist the United States' efforts in Katrina's aftermath. Lt. General Honore described the damage to Mississippi today, "all infrastructure south of Jackson, MS is either damaged or destroyed." Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice visited the devastated areas, and attended Sunday church services in Mobile, Alabama.

Elsewhere, Sean Penn's rescue boat, sans plug and full of his personal entourage, reportedly sank during launch in New Orleans. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) threatened to punch President Bush, and Jefferson Parish President Broussard decried that the bureaucracy of FEMA has committed murder.

Streaming Video:

All information is subject to change. Many stations are relying on their corporate parents to configure and maintain Internet streaming. Because of the intense interest in the feeds, they may be unavailable at times because of network congestion or a problem feeding the video to the streaming servers.

WWL-TV New Orleans - WWL-TV is operating from studios at Louisiana Public Broadcasting. CBS has a relay during the morning and afternoon. When available, use the CBS relay first as they have greater streaming capacity. They have a secondary stream from Yahoo. WWL-TV is also offering a special low-bandwidth audio-only stream for dial-up users.

WDSU-TV New Orleans - The news staff has started to return to temporary news studios near New Orleans. However, expect evening coverage from Hearst-Argyle sister stations WAPT Jackson and WESH Orlando when the New Orleans staff needs to take a break.

WGNO-TV New Orleans - New Orleans' ABC affiliate has returned to the air with WBRZ-TV and launched video streaming with continuous Katrina coverage.

WPMI-TV Mobile, AL - WPMI is webcasting from 5:30am - 10:30pm CDT. When off air, you can view pre-recorded reports on demand. This feed is often unreliable.

WKRG-TV Mobile, AL - This station is providing good coverage of the situation to the east in Mississippi and Alabama. However, the station is now signing off at around 10:30pm CDT like WWL and WPMI.

WJTV-TV Jackson, MS - The CBS affiliate in Jackson is providing live coverage for both the Jackson area and south Mississippi (knowing a lot of media in that area is off the air).

WFAA-TV Dallas, TX - WFAA-TV is here because Dallas is one of the evacuation cities.

United Radio From New Orleans: WWL-AM, WNOE-FM, "KISS-FM," WRNO-FM, WYLD-FM, and WJBO-AM (Clear Channel & Entercom) who have joined forces as United Radio From New Orleans, and they are streaming.

Gulf Coast Storm Network (Clear Channel Radio) - Clear Channel offers radio listeners across the gulf coast access to a simulcast emergency radio service. This service seems primarily focused on Alabama and Mississippi, but does cover Louisiana to some degree.

I am beginning to think this is much, mucuh worse than we realize...all because the press is STUCK ON STUPID! (I love that line.)<p.If we are gettting aid from Cuba and such, things must be a lot worse than we think.

Maybe someone should send Timmy this article and how shortly after Aaron's breakdown on his show plans (of sorts) were being made to let the citizens back into his Parrish.

And that is FREAKING them out.

Newt slaps the President but doesn't want to go after someone advocating violence to the president? Reminds me of McCain, only I think McCain has more sense then Newt. And I'm far from McCain's biggest fan.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm keeping a list.

that's an easy one - why doesn't FEMA have 100,000 porta-sans that they could bring in within 24 hours of the hurricane striking. I mean, that's easy to do, isn't it?

We'll see about Houston too.

We had a poster on this thread last night who sounded very credible. 9 rapes at the Dome in Houston.

I can EASILY see police departments across the nation suppressing this information.

If it gets out what animals some of these people are, who will take them?

"you are straining rescue resources by not evacuating."

I believe you have misunderstood me somewhere along the line.

1. I don't believe, nor it did I at the time, that the Super Doom move any sense.

2. I believe that if the same (or many more) buses had been used to evacuate further more lives would have been saved. Whoever we still have all most exactly the same problem in NO as we do today, because many, many people would have refused to get on those buses.

3. It's very likely that many buses would have been caught in the storm.

I'm very proud of Bush's performance. The Federal gov had no and has never had any role in evacuations.

Being a former Atlanta gal, i have no sense of humour about 'racists' and wouldn't think of making a joke about racism -- we don't joke about rope in the house of the hanged, as the old saying goes.

In a better world that might have been funny.

Please convey our thanks and love for him. We're praying for them all, and despite the damn politicians we're going to help these people in whatever they need and rebuild our country. We apprecate them, all our troops and rescue workers and our President.

That is such a beautiful story about that woman too.

We've been running rescue ops for days. The TCA order came down last week. It's the new NTA (notice to airmen) I'm worried about. Not because it has to be bad, but because I simply can't come up with an explanation.

When things don't fit, flags go up. The flag is up and I'm hoping for a positive explanation.

HPD being the Houston Police Department. There have been no rapes in the Texas shelters. I believe your original post said that there had been nine rapes in the Houston shelters.

Now, the NO/LA shelters? Yeah, rapes, murders, and assaults, I'd believe that.

Last night on this live thread. I don't know what time this thread got "changed"; it does periodically get a new thread when the posts get over 5,000+.

Someone who was a relief worker talked about the rapes and bathrooms that had already been nearly destroyed.

Knockoffs seized by Customs going to victims

The Yves St. Laurent and Tommy Hilfiger labels may be phony, but the thousands of Hurricane Katrina victims getting knockoff items seized by federal customs officials probably don't mind.

Displaced survivors in the Houston Astrodome can choose from counterfeit and abandoned clothing, toys, and even dog food.

More than 100,000 items were quickly taken from warehouses and more will follow, said Kristi Clemens, spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection division.

The agency has some 1 million items stored, and Customs officials are going through their inventory to see what else would be useful. While the initial shipment went to Texas, officials are looking toward a wider distribution, Clemens said.

For humans, virtually anything that you can wear is available: underwear, jeans, baseball caps, T-shirts, shoes and socks. For dogs: much needed food. For children, toys. For everyone: clean sheets and blankets.

Clemens said officials are looking for locations to deliver items in Louisiana and Mississippi, and then will scout for shelters in other states.

American businesses lose up to $250 billion annually from knockoffs, according to figures released in a Senate hearing. Federal officials seized $138 million in counterfeited goods last year, up from $94 million in 2003.

Counterfeit clothing currently accounts for about 18 percent of seized items.

Law enforcement officials and other experts have testified that counterfeit clothing and other goods have been traced to supporters of terror organizations.

Most counterfeit items come from China, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and Russia, according to Customs officials
