feel free to use the following:
Someone needs to show thse photos to Mayor Nagin of NOLA, with the pointed question appended:
Mr. Mayor, here are some 300+ buses in these two New Orleans lots alone.
These buses were yours to deploy, Mr. Mayor, to provide transport to the indigent and the stranded during the mandatory evacuation of the city you were elected to safeguard, prior to the storm and flood, in accord with a longstanding evacuation plan for the city and its surrounding areas.
Mayor Nagin, why did you not make use of these, YOUR resources, to fulfill YOUR duty to YOUR charges?

Nagin said it was because they didn't have toilets. Neither, apparently, did the Superdome.

"Lake Nagin"... That's great.
Some local freeper needs to put a real sign for "Lake Nagin" somewhere and get some pictures.
Maybe a real bill board somewhere down there.

Where did Nagin say this? Do you have a link?

How much time was there between the end of the major storm and the discovery that the dikes were busted, and the water getting too high to drive downtown?
I'm thinking there was a 24 hour or so period even after the storm when these buses could have been used.
If so, the ad needs to give that timeline too.
Nagin's timeline should be pointed out too. Didn't he escape up to Baton Rouge?

I hadn't seen that particular bus yard before. Do you have an ID on its location? It appears to me to have a mix of large buses and smaller government(?) vehicles.

It's obvious to me he's hoping to counter the Dem attack before it gains too much steam...
..why wouldn't you understand that?
...and I say...Good going!

I don't have a link. I was responding to post #35 by DJ MacWoW which contained the comment.

Holy Cow! I was being sarcastic! I had no idea he really went that route! NOthing should surprise me anymore...except when I make a putt.

Schoolbuses? Do they even have seatbelts? Isn't that like, dangerous? OMG! Good thing those poor people weren't put in all those buses. Shudder to think what could have happened. /teenie bit of sarcasm
To: SeaBiscuit
how am I going to get them to Texas without bathrooms" Like they had bathrooms in the superdome.
If not a truck stop or some other public place, the worst case was a quick stop beside the road. It would have been much more sanitary than the Superdome was.

Nagin said it was because they didn't have toilets. I was wrong then. I thought the buses were rejected because they weren't fitted with a wet bar. I stand corrected.

Three trips (Saturday, Sunday, and possibly Monday) would have been 30,000. And the kid took 70 in his bus so that would be 42,000 people. And that does not include the city transit buses.

Get ready for the spin - coming to a newspaper near you:
" The now famous photograph of unused buses in New Orleans actually depicts buses in need of repair. None of these buses could have been used as has been suggested "

"school buses don't have any bathrooms, how am I going to get them to Texas without bathrooms"Is that what he said, really? If I didn't know better I'd say that might have been said by someone on some kind of drug.
