FEMA moved quickly to rescue thousands from New Orleans. But what does the MSM do? Attack the White House with outrageous allegations cobbled together by corrupt N.O. and state officials. Read More Reports? They ought to be ashamed of themselves. Will they ever apologize? Never in a million years.

THey only found out about the people at the convention center on Thursday, and they'd been on CNN for weeks.

Really? Weeks?

Seems those folks could have been in the mayor's buses in the first place.

The 'mayor' of New Orleans sat on his hands and did nothing to help his own people. He did not even follow the Action Plan adopted by the city to evacuate poorer people stranded in areas subject to flooding. A blogger was railing at Nagin about lack of preparation starting on August 24th. Take a peek at the link posted below the MSN news report. The truth about what happened in N.O. is posted below with photographic proof:

Look forward to a huge uptick in enlistment in the guard and military after this disaster.

Some of the young people seemed impressed with the abilities of their rescuers.

Hey...nice link...too bad it really damns the local & state admins. And too bad you didn't read all the stuff there. Nagin announced the mandatory evacuation of NO, but he didn't provide any means for those without transportation to do so.

Schools buses, that he previously used to bus blacks to the voting booths in the last election, stood idle and eventually under water.

So which is it ?

BTW...welcome to FR,.... I think

Good for you. I agree the looting was overblown in the media. Showing it over and over turned people against helping them. I am glad the focus shifted elsewhere. But if I needed food and medicine for my children, I would loot too. It was hard to take, seeing TV's, etc. being looted but I think this was crazed drug addicts looking to barter for their 'fix'. It was apalling to watch, but immensly more riviting is the images of shell shocked people that have lost everything, and seen untold horror.

I hate what's happening, all Dems vs. Republicans. Even the most conservative of us can surely see that there was a massive failure here. We will learn that in times of crises, all the I's can't be dotted, all the T's can't be crossed. I applaud the ones who stole buses and got people out of there. People have to take charge themselves and quit looking for the government to tell them what to do, where to go.

Good luck. Newbies get lots of scrutiny here.

Welcome to FR. I think.... FEMA does not have command and control over National Guard troops, the Governor does. The Mayor is responsible for the security of his city. FEMA also does not have a standing army ready to roll in a few hours. IMHO the response of the governor and mayor were dismal. To be sure FEMA was slow to act as well, but nothing can excuse the Mayor for not ordering a mandatory evacuation earlier, even after the director of the National Hurricane Center called him at his home the Saturday before the storm hit. The mayor himself stated he was worried about legal issues in issuing such an order. He finally gave in and issued the order Sunday morning. The order included a clause exempting guests and hotel staff at local hotels, some of whom he personally arranged to be taken to safety. His own Director of Homeland Security for the city of NO complained about FEMA's lack of command and control, while failing to recognize that his own C & C of NO's first responders had begun to fall apart.

I'm not a racist. Far from it in fact. The truth is that I am one quarter Native American. I have posted many times on FR about my background and heritage. Do a FR search on my screen name and you will soon find some of my posts on the subject of racism. Native Americans suffered far greater than the blacks did. Some historians claim that at one time there were over two million Indians occupying our native land. They were eventually rounded up and forced onto government reservations. What took place later is an exercise in classic racial and cultural genocide. Hitler learned quite a bit about how to handle the "Jewish Question" by his study of American history.

My people, from the Blackfoot Nation, were subjected to many cruel tactics. One was being infected with smallpox in 1837. Some writers have claimed for 30 years that this was intentional as blankets infected with smallpox were handed out by U.S. troops and Indian traders. At one time, the Blackfoot nation was over 250,000 strong and controlled all the trade routes between Montana and the Pacific Coast. After the mid-1850's, barely 25,000 survived. Smallpox prevented a huge war on the plains because the U.S. Cavalry did not stand a ghost of a chance against over 300,000 Native Americans from many tribes allied in defense. When Custer stumbled into that massacre, there were several tribes meeting to discuss such an alliance. Do some research on the Internet the "truth is out there."

So do not play the race card with me. It does not work. All it does is push my hot buttons.

Jesse also brought his own film crew with him...
I'm more impressed with the 20 year who commandeered a bus and drove people to safety.

Are you saying it should be Gavin Newsome and Arnold Swarzenegger's responsibility first and Bush's second?

Yes. In the same way I am opposed to the Feds militarizing and taking over the City of New Orleans. Our Constitution guarantees the rights of States to manage their own affairs; we should keep it that way.

I wholeheartely agree with your admonishment of some racist comments made recently on this forum. Please recognize, this is a privately run, wide open forum, and in times of heavy traffic we get a lot of idiotic comments from people who like to run off at the mouth. Just ignore them.
