One of the unfortunate diseases of the body politic has been the increasing politicalization of the US Supreme Court. This was not caused by conservatives; however, perhaps it should be solved by a conservative President.
One outstanding chance is now upon us. Most likely, President Bush will take the safe road and go through the political gauntlet and appoint a known conservative judge. What we really need is a break in the partisanship of the appointment process. Nominating former President Clinton would give everyone pause and begin a process where politicians (mostly, but not exclusively Democrats) can cease making efforts to please narrow interest groups in the selection process.
I know former President Clinton has personal flaws. I also know his reputation for politically catering to the pro-choicers and so forth. If any of you know a successful politiican, you know how much many of them hate being jerked around by special interest groups. I do believe Clinton began as a centrist in his party and did sign the welfare reform bill and so forth.
I could give his other qualifications, but I will leave it here.

The fact that nobody agrees with you may suggest that we are emoting. It also, more likely, suggests that you just had a remarkably stupid idea.

I have to agree that this is a great idea. After all, it would give the 'Pub's the opportubity to "Bork" Slick Willie in a way that will make the Dems cringe. Get him up there and ask all those questions that have gone unanswered about his administration's failings. Keep Billy on the hot seat until he melts down and then vote against him. I wonder if the media would cover the inquisition. oooh. I never thought of that angle. Let him get most of the way through the process. Ream him. Expose him. And then have Bush withdraw the nomination before the vote.

What a load.
Clinton surrendered his license to even PRACTICE before SCOTUS, remember?
That certainly qualifies him to be on it, doesn't it?
It'd be like putting David Duke in charge of race relations.

I do believe Clinton began as a centrist in his party and did sign the welfare reform bill and so forth. Yeah, and with lifetime tenure and no political responsibilities he'd stay that way (assuming your premise for the sake of argument).
Uh huh.

Surely, I expected at least one person to take my suggestion seriously. Alas, not a one. Many funny one liners but no real thoughtNo real thought???
Are you serious???
Go back and read again. The man has been barred for perjury!
He shook his finger at the nation and lied to our faces!
He mastubated into the Oval Office sink!
No real thought, indeed!
