Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

Yeah, look at this...
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Nine stockpiles of fire-and-rescue equipment strategically placed around the country to be used in the event of a catastrophe still have not been pressed into service in New Orleans, five days after Hurricane Katrina, CNN has learned.

Frustration about the federal response to Hurricane Katrina has reached Chicago City Hall, as Mayor Richard Daley today noted a tepid response by federal officials to the city's offers of disaster aid.
The city is willing to send hundreds of personnel, including firefighters and police, and dozens of vehicles to assist on the storm-battered Gulf Coast, but so far the Federal Emergency Management Agency has requested only a single tank truck, Daley said.

Yahoo: New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson offered Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco help from his state's National Guard last Sunday, the day before Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana. Blanco accepted, but paperwork needed to get the troops en route didn't come from Washington until late Thursday.

Preparing America
In the event of a terrorist attack, natural disaster or other large-scale emergency, the Department of Homeland Security will assume primary responsibility on March 1st for ensuring that emergency response professionals are prepared for any situation. This will entail providing a coordinated, comprehensive federal response to any large-scale crisis and mounting a swift and effective recovery effort. The new Department will also prioritize the important issue of citizen preparedness. Educating America's families on how best to prepare their homes for a disaster and tips for citizens on how to respond in a crisis will be given special attention at DHS.

Well...not everyone can be Margaret Thatcher, ya know. Blanco's problem is a lack of leadership and decision making skills and probably some arrogance thrown in for good measure. This is a problem that spans both sexes. Just look at Nagin.

As is par for the course for dimwitted dimocrats, not recieving 100% of the requested increase for projects becomes "cutting funding".
That's like requesting a salary increase from your boss of 15% and saying he cut your salary when he only gave you 10%.
Someone toss that moron a towel and drag her off the stage.

"A national leader, senator, crying on TV, will reinforce the perception that a female isn't up to the top spot..running the country...and Blanco's total melt-down this week ads to that..Sorry Hillary..."Can't you just imagine with that talking voice of Hilliary's what it would be like hearing her cry.

"He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."I don't understand. She said all this today? Are there still thousands of people infront of the Superdome and Convention center screaming for water, food. I don't get it.
To: Carl/NewsMax
If she is going to punch everyone who criticizes the job that Louisiana and New Orleans officials did, I will be first in line for a slug, so here it goes.
Mary, you insufferable pig, Police Chief Compass, Mayor Nagin, Governor Blanco and your brother all screwed the pooch, but that is OK, because Planned Parenthood is there with some after hurricane condoms for you to use.

Are the NO mayor and Landreiu both on crack or are they just incompetent, low class and uncivilized? Probably, definitely, yes and absolutely.
To: Carl/NewsMax
She needs to be relieved of her duties. I've never seen such incompetent, unprofessional behavior than what I've seen in NO. From teh Governor on down to the police force that abandoned it's citizens.
To: Carl/NewsMax
LEADER
LOSER
The Democrat Mayor and the Democrat Governor failed badly. Now the Democrat Senator makes a fool of herself.
To: cajungirl
and dumb as a post if she can't figure out that her GOVERNOR needs to make these requests and she is balking at declaring a state of emergency. can mary read? the WaPost itself painted this picture clearly this AM.
