Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.
All the ones the media cares about are.
Partly justified by the many happy years we lived in Huntsville, AL.
I'm damned tired of being insulted and lied to by the Louisiana officials, politicians and MSM..
I personally feel much better contributing to folks that aren't insulting me and my intelligence on a daily basis...
Yes --- I know it NOT the "Christian Attitude".....but at this moment, being under constant bombardment by the lying assholes in MSM, the DNC, the Congressional Black Caucus, and every ignorant leftist they put on camera ------I'm going to conduct my own "protest" with my own checkbook.

Hey Wolverine,
I have to presume they dropped the psyche evaluation requirement during recruitment for the NPD. I wonder if you also had to be convicted several felonies to meet their prerequisites?
Vote Landrieu, Blanco and Nagin, "Hell it is easier than getting a job."

She's setting an example for the youth of LA. She's telling them that it's OK to threaten the POTUS with physical violence. She should undergo a psychiatric examination and should be expelled from the Senate. When is the last time a U.S. Senator threatened the President?
The Lunatic Left will lose even more seats in Congress in 2006. Despite the opinions of the MSM, the average American is disgusted with the Lunatic Left.
After reading your article you have to wonder if Landrieu was inciting other to put the President's life in danger.
Seeing Condi Rice just now gives me hope for women in politics. You can have compassion and be stern. Go Condi!
If I say anything else about the Mayor, I fear I'll be beating a dead horse.
"Landrieu threatened to punch the President of the United States of America?"
She's probably just pissed because Bush mispronounced her name at the airport. He called her "Land-Drow", not "Land-Drew," as it is supposed to be.
Afternoon NCLA,
Those who are calling others racists, need to go look in their mirror. For there, they will find the true racist looking back at them.
Oh excuse me, I am not politically correct and just tell it like it is.

She might do better to punch her daddy.... and quite a few other corrupt and decadent LA pols.....
Her daddy, Maurice Edwin Landrieu (the former Mayor of New Orleans), was Mayor of NOLA in the '70s, in the wake of Hurricane Betsy (1965) and Hurricane Camille (1969). If there is anyone in the world who should have been greatly concerned about the extreme vulnerability of NOLA it was/is the Mayor.... but you don't score points with your corrupt pals by worrying about pouring funds into levees and emergency resources.
Any more info on the possibly backdated letter posted by Blanco?
A reckoning needs to be with those responsible for their deaths.
Pure callous indifference to the people of this state.
The MSM lying out their asses and twisting it to fit their hate America, hate-Bush agendas, is enough to make me puke.
I'm not very ladylike today. Hell, I'm never ladylike.
You have a point. From my many years of living in Ala. and Miss., I think my donations will go to those states also. I may send some to the Texas government to help them cope, but LA is not going to get my help. Sorry.
I'll find it for oyu...hold on, just a sec, need to look.
I'll see if I can find it.
"And now this. Just think--Blanco just named Witt to head up another task force! Morons doing more moronic things."
Is Witt the Clintonista who said that in the event of an emergency the first thing he would do would be to confiscate all the firearms owned by the people?
What task force was that?
CJ,
When Nagin disrespected the hand that is there to help, he is no damn good like the other POS.
Landrieu and Nagin are two peas in a pod and it ain't about race, it's about incompetence.
Please, do not pour water down my neck and then tell me it is raining.

I'm afraid not, the NO jailhouse is flooded the criminals are running free, and this b*tch is running free with them.
One thing I noticed during this "photo-op" of Mary: as she was pointing out the "pathetic" one lonely crane moving dirt to fix the levee, did you all notice that the water sheen indicated that the water was LEAVING the city back into the canal and to the lake. The Corps of Engineers said they are deliberately leaving some levees open because the lake is now lower than the level in the city. Keeping some of the breaks open is acting as a DRAIN. This is what she starting to "cry" about with complete mis-understanding of what the scene meant.
