Once again, the mayor and govorner were elected to positions they thought would be largely ceremonial with no thought given to actually managing during a crisis. Their response to this catastrophe was to wait and have someone take care of them, all the while blaming the hand that was going to help.

Seems like the focus of the MSM is to trash our president instead of examining the incompetence of the Louisiana leadership. Not surprising at all.

SHE was obviously confused by the language: "HE may call out these forces to preserve law and order, to suppress insurrection, to repel invasion, or in other times of emergency."
A failure of the state's Founding Fathers/Mothers to properly word their constitution. SHE cannot be at fault.

Pictures don't lie. Hundreds of flooded school buses, parked in neat rows, that could've moved NOLA citizens to safety. Of course, city employees couldn't be bothered on their day off.
To: pabianice
Why have none of the Dinosaur Media noted this? I'm sure that's just a rhetorical question.

No, she should have sent the guard in right after they ordered the mandatory evacuation. You order everyone out and there is a huge vacuum that the local police can not possibly manage (especially when they have families and homes to watch over).

P>Thank you, Pabianice. I'm am impressed by the large number of thinking FReepers who have slaughtered the credbility of the DNC ankle-biters looking to cast blame anywhere else except themselves during this tragedy. They won't even wait until we bury the dead and they've bared the knives.
Suffice to say the truth of this natural disaster and the human tragedy that followed will be brought to light.
Who knows...maybe the DNC may learn something from this throughout their death-throws.

why didn't the mayor declair earlier like the Feds were pressing him to, or why did he not activate the 250 school busses in NO, and rather let them sit and get flooded?
250+ Left here
150 municipally-owned NORTA buses left less than a mile from the superdome

From the Clinton feel-your-pain, do-nothing, and blame-the-GOP playbook. Works like a charm with the MSM.

It's the standard Rat playbook, they know inevitably the truth will come out, so before it does, say the most outlandish things, knowing that enough people in the MSM will buy it.
Then when the truth does come out, it's too late, most people have already made up their minds that the Republicans are the evil ones, and they won't let the facts get in the way.
I still believe most of the country thinks the obviously fake memos that CBS produced about Bush's National Guard, are legit.

Of course Ms. Blanco should be submitting her resignation ASAP for her severe failure to act in any leadership capacity during this major catastrophe to her State.
All governors should get direct training for disasters from Jeb Bush and George Patki. Mayors should get the training from Rudy Giuliani.
Once the President saw that nothing was getting done by the inept Governor he took charge and made it happen.

Blanco blew it big time. She should have mobilized the Guard imemdiately after the storm instead of crying on TV and doing nothing, waiting for the federal government to save her. While 3,000 LA Guard members are in Iraq, 30,000 others aren't. ping
