Baton Rouge, LA Governor Blanco today announced the following Executive Order:
Executive Order NO. KBB 2005- 31- provides that pursuant to the Louisiana Homeland Security and Emergency Assistance and Disaster Act, R.S. 29:721, et seq., grants emergency powers to the governor, where, she has in consultation with school superintendents, utilized public school buses for transportation of Hurricane Katrina evacuees. The full text of the above mentioned proclamation is available on the Internet at www.gov.state.la.us.
Maybe it's just me, but I always demand a simple checklist for what to do in an emergency.
Unbelievable.
yiPPEE!!!Way to go...and the truth shall set you FREEEEE Republic!

Yeah...I'd say....thousands of deaths too late.
Her family had better keep her away from sharp objects, and tall buildings. This is getting ugly to watch her and Nagin falling over the edge.
Let's see, where was Gov. Blanco when they could have used all the buses last weekend to move tens of thousands of people out of NOLA before it was too late? Guess she must have been snoozing in her lounge chair after a few too many martinis with Ted Kennedy.....

The original must have been signed on 08/31 from what the PDF says.
That's Wednesday. I guess the governor didn't get that great idea until about 96 hours too late.
This is damning. Resignation dance anyone?
You can probably find the same definition under "criminally negligent".
Here's the order signed 8/31/05

Unfortunately, the New Orleans buses were already underwater when she issued the order. Too little, too late.
Do school buses in Louisiana have snorkels on the air intake...?
Acutally, I think she is talking about buses from other districts because the ones in NOLA are all being seviced at the present time. They are having their water changed.
Did you see this?
That is just so depressing seeing that picture. How many people could have been brought to safety if they had just used their brains. It makes me ashamed to be from this state.
Thanks to Governor Blanco....this will now be the primary means of evacuation.
Unfortunately this type of EO wont work retroactively. Too late. Any way to tell when the order was added to the site?
Oh, and "Dereliction of duty".
