My one concern is that, although I've read the article twice, I'm not certain if the Friday referred to is yesterday or last Friday.

Different freepers are reading it differently.

Fact: The "media" in the USA and the rest of the world are incapable of reporting factual information.

A stark truth, but one we all need to wrap our minds around. We cannot depend on the news media for truth.

"I am sick to death of the criticism of people who were and are doing their very best to help people in need, regardless of income or color.

To all those who are griping, Shut up and help or shut up and get out of the way."

Don't blame you for feeling that way. Frankly I'd like to put off discussion of who is to blame til later.

But if conservatives are mounting a strategy it seems to me wiser to emphasize that President himself had to intercede to get the evacuation called rather than claiming there was no slowness in the response. The President, Chertoff and Brown are indicating that were Federal problems so we aren't gonna look very smart claiming otherwise.

One lesson seems to be that active duty three star general can really get a lot done - I think one revision may be to get a general in charge earlier.

Sorry for the duplicate posting of the WP article

I don't think it can be repeated often enough. :-)

Forecast model tracks at 6pm Friday, which actually had come out several hours earlier, converging on SE LA:

The official forecast track was at that time still around a Pascagoula, MS hit, but it was somewhat of an average, with many models suggesting LA.

I see that too, but why wouldn't they write "yesterday" in place of Friday were that the case?

Unfortunately, I can't remember his name, but I saw one National Guard commander on Fox News who said that coordinating the logistics of getting all of the personnel and supplies into the area is no more difficult than "the last time you invited 20,000 people to dinner." ;)

Sounds to me like the feds tried to help them plan the dinner party, but they refused the help.

Wouldn't the gov's approval of the proposed Friday plan (that she compared to martial law) have saved the state money, too?

I can't help but wonder if by doing it alone that she was maybe hoping that she'd become some sort of Guiliano-style hero (heroine) and it backfired.

I think it was the Friday before the storm, and surely the administration will have people start talking about this?!

I am amazed that the MSM, and others on the Left don't seem to realize the incredible scale and the colossal projected expense of the relief effort. Not only is it unprecedented, it was mobilized and put into _effective_ action in two days following the flooding.

I agree. I waver between wondering if the MSM is really filled with dunces, or if they really are so dishonest.

There's another graphic without as much editorializing (LOL), if I find it I'll post it.

I like the one you did post. :-)

A leftist would have already have all the private resources under their control well before the hurricane even formed in the Atlantic.

But of course! Silly me. LOL!

I remember that quote too... but I couldn't find a link to it - too many stories are using the number 20,000.
