MAYOR CRITICIZED EVEN BEFORE LEVY BREAK. National Hurricane Center Director had to call Nagin at home Saturday night to plead: "Get people out of New Orleans." "The criticisms of Nagin came from above as well. Numerous officials urged him to evacuate the city, but he worried about the legality of ordering people out when New Orleans has few safe hurricane shelters. Also, National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield in Miami called Nagin at home Saturday night and told him: Get people out of New Orleans.
''I could never sleep if I felt like I didn't do everything that I could to impress upon people the gravity of the situation,'' Mayfield said. ``New Orleans is never going to be the same.''
When a grim Nagin issued the mandatory evacuation order Sunday, he said: ``We are facing a storm that most of us have feared . . . God bless us.''

You could walk into the NO housing projects and show a movie of Nagin laughing about how he got all of the tourists out before the projects were evacuated, you could walk in there and show a movie of Nagin being Barney Fife in his decision making, you could offer volumes of proof that he was incompetent, but you will NEVER convice the "culture" that exists in that project that Nagin put them in harm's way. It HAD to be Bush, Republicans, etc. Even those you could convince would be scorned by the rest.
Na, just keep monitoring the MSM and you will come to realize that it's "Bush's fault"....
Thank you, backhoe. Sometimes I'm not sure of the keywords but those make so much sense, even I can remember them :-)
And thank you again for all your dedication the importance of archiving so many important issues. You are a gem.
What was that line in Animal House, "You F'd up, you trusted us."
Both parties want one. It should be interesting. Poor SCOTUS nominee Roberts. He has lost the limelight. He will get on the bench in relative obscurity. He will not be a household name.
Bingo.
They are very adept at prioritizing their agendas.
Nagin had no clue how to effect the evacuation - like most Dems he just said do it and went back to sucking his rum & coke..

We need to start one thread that links all of these things together. That way we can send it as a link in emails, etc. to get the truth out. There's been some great research and truth posting here on FR; we just need to combine it into one thread showing all of this. What does everyone think?

This adds credence to the statement "Trust in God, question ALL others".
He more or less has been...he doesn't have a constituency anymore.
Scarlett O'Blanko was running around saying: "Where shall I go? What shall I do? Oh, I'll worry about that tomorrow!"
Katrina's threat was so acute that President Bush joined the chorus of officials who urged New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin and Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to order a mandatory evacuation, issued yesterday morning after lower-lying areas outside the city were cleared Saturday.
Officials had already confiscated weapons, including guns, raising fears of the unrest that took place at the dome in 1998. Then, 14,000 people waiting out Hurricane Georges, caused $10,000 in damage and looted another $8,500 in property. In anticipation of the massive flooding, people in the shelter would likely not be allowed to leave until tomorrow.
Portable bathrooms had not been set up inside, and the dome's water system could be affected by the storm.
Looking beaten, Tim Duchene, 48, grimaced as he stood near the front of the line. He had waited three hours and tried in vain to take his medication to ease a ruptured disk in his back.
"Nobody brought us water. I tried to get one from them but they told me to get back in line," Duchene said. "They weren't prepared for this. I'd like to know how they're going to feed all these people."
Leon Moore, 55, the left side of his body paralyzed for the past 12 years because of a stroke, pulled his weathered red truck up to the Superdome and angrily decried Mayor Nagin. "The mayor of the city didn't make preparations for the handicapped," he said.
The criticisms of Nagin came from above as well. Numerous officials urged him to evacuate the city, but he worried about the legality of ordering people out when New Orleans has few safe hurricane shelters for them to evacuate to. Also, National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield in Miami called Nagin at home Saturday night and told him: Get people out of New Orleans.
When a grim Nagin issued the mandatory evacuation order yesterday, he said: "We are facing a storm that most of us have feared. ... God bless us."
I would have taken my kids too. Even if it were on foot, bike or WalMart buggy... I would have gotten out of there. And, I would NOT have waited for them to tell me to evacuate. Unfortunately, many elderly wouldn't have that option.
It wasn't FEMA. It was the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
To:(name your favorite MSM "journalists)
I am just curious is any of you "objective" journalists have bother to note that the City of New Orleans is responsible for the evacuation plan. You can read it on their website. You know, the city being run by the Democrat Mayor who is currently screaming loudest. Couldn't be he is screaming so loud because he dropped the ball and knows it? Maybe you "journalists" might want to look into the reasons why the City of New Orleans plan failed so dramatically. Why doesn't the City of New Orleans have pre-positions stockpiles of food and water to get people over the 3 day hump that the Dept of Homeland Security tells them it will take for the Feds to ride to the rescue? Democrat leaders who are zealous to make a race issue out of this might want to consider what is going to happen when the American People start to ask themselves "Just what did all those millions of Homeland Security dollars given to cities like New Orleans in the aftermath of 9-11 BUY us? This has a very real potential to turn right around and bite the Democrat leadership very hard in a very sensitive place.
