M. O'BRIEN: Let me ask you this, though. Let's flip this around for a moment. This is kind of turning in, I'm seeing shreds of this on the web and on the blogs of this being the allegation is that Democrats are using this as a political issue. What to you say to that?
BREAUX: I've heard the racial implications. I would categorically reject that. Our good Mayor Ray Nagin is African- American and almost all the city council is African-American. The sheriff is African-American. The areas south of New Orleans, Plaquemine and St. Bernard Parishes are predominantly white and the rescue efforts down there were certainly no faster. If anything, they were slower down there.

Apparently each levee is goverened by a "levee board" and there are over 20 of them. They are political fiefdoms and centers of political power.
If NOLA wants federal money to rebuild, President Bush should nationalize the levee system and give the whole damn thing to the Corps of Engineers.
That's the best news I've heard all week! Let him; let the entire world see them politicizing the misery in LA.
My money is on Obama 100%
You're at the wrong forum, aren't you?
CNN and PMSNBC have been playing the race card all day today.
I suggest that they take a look at the helicopter crews who are rescuing the citizens, and take a look at the volunteers who are taking care of the refugees at the Astrodome and other centers. They look mostly white to me.
Iran-Contra? Savings and Loans scandals? BCCI investigation? Bork confirmation? Tower confirmation? Thomas confirmation? Whitewater? Impeachment? Clinton fundraising scandals? 9-11 Omission Commission? Enron and other corporate scandals? Bolton confirmation?
Of all the hearings I can think of in the past 20 years, only the Thomas hearings could count as a win since he did get onto the Supreme Court.
Enron and other corporate scandals?
Did they succeed in impeaching Bush with this?
Bolton confirmation?
Who's over at the UN now, kicking ass and taking names?
I hope the silent majority of those trapped in NO live long enough to vote the corrupt Dims out of office.
Why did you ping me???
Please note that my question had nothing to do with who got elected President. The fact is that these hearings have ALWAYS damaged Republicans politically. Maybe not fatal damage, but damage nonetheless.
Yes, Bolton is over at the State Department, but he was delayed quite a bit by the Crying Voinovich and other RINO sellouts. Call it a tie if you want, but it was sure as heck not a victory in any way, shape, manner or form.
His business cards say the same things they would have if the RINOs hadn't sold him out-- all they did was delay the President from implementing his agenda over there. I just don't see how we can call that a victory for any Republican.
Oh please, Obama is a loser. He's going nowhere fast. He chose the wrong side and he's becoming just like the worst of them. He used to be a contender, but not anymore.
I have been bookmarking the threads of the hurricane all along and I don't even have to search to find links so I have lots of ammo. Alot of the worse ones are speechless now and some have actually done a 180. Sourced facts can beat Dim hysteria it just takes constant re-enforcement.
"Get back to the 60's, hippie." You said.
He votes GOP.
He simply stated that the Democrats have THE voice in the Senate, and frankly he's right.
Look at how the Democrats are dominating the Senate despite them being in the minority numerically. Look at the Filibustering, the blocking of Bush appointees, our Republicans like McCain (Rep. Traitor) aligning themselves with people like Hillary on issues.
The guy is dead on. The Republicans won yet the Democrats own the microphone in the Senate.
But it goes a lot further than what he said. While I think Bush is an awesome president, he sold out the base which put him in power!
He wants to go down in history and is making compromises where he shouldnt. Fact is, those who rallied by the thousands in churches in the US to get him elected did so with certain expectations. Terri Schiavo was not a highlight of his career. He won with a mandate on a platform that he is now abandoning. If Bush continues this trend he will loose the hearts and minds of those who rallied behind him.
Strike one: Terri Schiavo
Strike two: Mexican boarder
Louisiana wont hurt Bush since he did no wrong. Those who hate him will still hate him no matter what. Michael Moore will make some movie, those who hate Bush will say Oh hes bad, those who like him wont even go to the film or will dispute it. People like Obama will disclose what they really are, a race wavering ambulance chaser. Those who like him will still like him.
Its issues like the US/Mexican boarder and Terri Schaivo that will alienate Bush from the base that had him elected.
The point here is simple. Dont worry about making everyone happy.
If the Republicans dont start producing soon they will loose heavily in the next elections. That base that was energized will stay at home, and the Republicans in the Senate will loose because the opposition will capitalize on everything that goes wrong (Hurricanes included) and in the end it will be the Rep. who take the black eye since they are in the majority.
When in charge, take charge. The Republican Party is having a hard time with this concept. The people put you there! They WANT you to act out what you said! Bush had the right idea on day one of his reelection. He won with a mandate, now he needs to act accordingly and execute the will of the people.

But "they are so poor and so black" says Wolfie Blitzer.
Regards.
according to whom? A couple of months ago, Rasmussen published his approval rating as the HIGHEST in the entire Senate, and that was after he blasted Abraham Lincoln.
ping
I'll be damned.
The welfare checks did keep people in the city.
