The Navy has hired Houston-based Halliburton Co. to restore electric power, repair roofs and remove debris at three naval facilities in Mississippi damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
Halliburton subsidiary KBR will also perform damage assessments at other naval installations in New Orleans as soon as it is safe to do so.
KBR was assigned the work under a "construction capabilities" contract awarded in 2004 after a competitive bidding process. The company is not involved in the Army Corps of Engineers' effort to repair New Orleans' levees.

(whisper): Halliburton....oil....hurricanes....
As soon as I saw the first photos of the damage, I asked myself, Who's got the supplies, manpower, and infrastructure capabilities to fix this? Ding, ding, ding! Halliburton.
This is hugh for liberals with nothing to do. The left-twing blogs should be all over the story by now--if they've moved past the cannibalism stuff.

As I have asked many a liberal when they start talking about Haliburton.
Whom would you recommend?
Haliburton is the best at what they do, and better then anyone else.
Their closest competitor is a french company....which has ties to Victor Bout.

I am very interested in the 'weather wars' debate. Ya never know! ;-)
Lemme know when someone/anyone/some 'machine' is invented that can:
- Grossly affect the moisture content of a 'largish' airmass
- MOVE that 'largish' airmass into a desisred, predetermined position
- Significantly shift the jet stream into a desired, predetermined position
- CONTROL the speed and direction of aforementioned jet stream
- Cause the 'at will' movement of cold, polar-originating airmasses into the 45 degree to 32 degree latitudes
- Do all of the aforementioned with coodination and timing such that the convergence of the jet, warm, moist gulf air and a cold 'front' apear over a desired, predetermined area

Oh no! Haliburtin caused Katrine to make Cheney rich. Watch for the headline in the MSM. I talked to my brother, back in Iowa, yesterday, Of course the disaster in NO was the first topic. Then I asked what price gas was back there, told him what it was here, etc.
I said something along the lines of, "this is going to mess up half the country for a bit.."...
His reply was, "Yea, this plays right into Bush and Halliburton's hand, doesn't it?" Told him he was still an idiot and hung up.
I'm ashamed that my own flesh and blood are so ignorant.
