You obviously have no idea about the NFL. How many NFL stadiums are in the open? You going to put these people in Paul Brown stadium in Cincy with snow coming down or how about Giant stadium or Patriots stadium?
Texas didn't house these people in Reliant Stadium where the NFL plays. The Alamodome is going to be home for awhile to the NO Saints.
Why would the NFL cancel their season? You obviously are not a football fan. You have no clue that a lot of these people that were displaced are also sports fans. What better way to brighten their day then to watch their team like LSU play football or watch the Saints or any other college or pro team.
They should move the prisoners at Gitmo to the Meadowlands for the month of December. Give the refugees Gitmo.
I realize that many stadiums are still outside - but there's a number of domes and warm-weather venues - and my whole point is that it will not be "business as usual" in the USA for a long while - we need places that can handle large numbers in relative shelter with kitchen and bathroom facilities - it's either stadiums and arenas or cruise ships - unless we'd rather have an NFL season than a school year - schools and colleges would also work well, if we think NFL is too important to give up . . .
Something's gonna have to give, I'm telling you . . .
Just wait . . . reality is gonna set in . . . in a big way . . . and it's moving right through the south into the east, midwest and west within days . . .
Actually, they *are* being put in Reliant until more of the Convention Center is ready.
This is a plan that Texas has been thinking about and revising for a very, very long time. Don't worry too much about it - we're looking at it as both a neighborly duty and as a dry run should something *really* bad ever happen here.
