Shooting on sight sounds like a wonderful solution, but what are you going to do with the wounded person afterward? Unless he's killed, he becomes another problem for overstressed and undersupplied and understaffed hospitals. Do you want your mother, or your wife, who is suffering a heart attack to die because the doctor had to be yanked off her case to care for a wounded thug?

It is so glib to say "shoot on sight" but that is a very hard thing to do for a civilized person -- if there are any civilized people left in that chaos!

You leave wounded looters to die. You end up only shooting half-a-dozen and you save hundreds of people that way.

Yes, I was trying to explain it 2 days ago, but some folks wouldnt listen. They thought it was compassionate to let looting start. "It's just food" ...

Easier to start than to end...

Now, thanks to looters, the death toll may be dozens or hundreds higher that it otherwise would have been.

I'll join you in hand-wringing over this, how about that?

Nope.
Tell the wounded thug they can walk to Baton Rouge, there's a hospital there. a wounded helpless looter dying in the street may be as good a deterrent as a dead one.

Comment on The Nation blog ...

"I wish Kerry'd won... Then at least none of this would have happened. Damn Bush."

I dont know if this was deep sarcasm or a Moonbat uttering nonsense, but they sure have this Bush causes Global Warming which causes natural disasters chain of thinking ... so in effect, they BLAME BUSH FOR THE WEATHER!!!

This is a neat trick, Bush having powers previously appropriated to God and nature alone.

Once you're delusional, all things are possible.

During my under-grad work in symbolic logic, when we addressed the propositional calculus, one learned right away that once one supposes a contradiction to be true, then all kinds of falsehoods are judged to be true.

In their world, Bush is both a chimpy moron hand-puppet, AND an evil genius.

A and ~A, as the Objectivists would have it - they've got one thing right at least. ;^)

You make a good point. Where do we draw the line?
But I still can't see forbidding people who have no food or water from going into stores and taking it.

If I owned a store in a hurricane zone where people were thirsty or starving, they would be more than welcome to it.

Is it true that Randi Rhodes has encouraged looting? Those who have attacked Bush and blamed him, from the moment this all happened, are looters themselves. Political looters, the lowest of the low. These people are truly and undeniably insane, ... or evil.

Demoncrats holding power in LA and N.O. actually wanted the rioting to grow, to emphasize their clarion call of 'it's Bush's fault' ... never doubt the perfidy of democraps and never doubt that they will sacrifice untold lives to achieve their propaganda goals ... the abortion holocaust is all the proof one needs.

There's nothing better than meeting a BBQ cook with a shotgun who wil give you free food because "y'all look okay." Props to Homer in Jackson. Homer was quite well armed, so I think he will survive to die in bed of a (very) clogged artery.

"These events are nothing new to those who know the ghetto mentality. Firemen are routinely fired upon fighting fires even when no hurricane is in place. Ambulences sent to projects must leave crew in the ambulence or the equipment is stolen. Cops face fire every day from these scum. If helicopters were buzzing around them they would be fired upon to by the vicious bastards we subsidize."

Bears repeating.

These people stayed behind because they knew what they wanted to do. Now they have been and are preventing the saving of lives and evacuations elsewhere individually and collectively. Anyone who wants these people on this continent, shout it out.

Thought not.

Those who would spread chaos and mayhem, the Treason Media and the RATs, protect them at every opportunity. They prey upon the decent Black people in the cities, those who work to make a decent life for themselves and their families. They are like packs of wolves

It is not white people who bear the burden of their attacks but the poorest of the poor. They were, are and always will be nothing short of Urban Terrorists. And the alliance of criminal gangs with Democrat politicians is as old as our nation as Gangs of New York accurately showed. Mafia-RAT alliances are the basis of EVERY urban political machine from New Orleans to Chicago to NYC to San Francisco.

Looting is one thing...shooting at rescue helicopters is something entirely different...

Can someone proffer theory (I have my own) as to WHY would the thugs of New Orleans shoot at a rescue helicopter?

Looting, and looting of the looters does not lead to shooting at rescue choppers...

Enjoying lawlessness and trying to preserve lawlessness might trigger someone into shooting at the choppers...

How does the looter go from pursuing personal gain, to preserving anarchy? Is this normal?

It is as if they fashioned themselves as some sort of freedom fighters...
