Just heard Blanco finaly comandeered the states school buses to evac what is left of NO.
The truth will eventually win out.
Maybe, but remember, they elected the rotter.
I am wondering if the President or FEMA ordered the Governor to do this. But I bet she takes all credit and says later on that she had to do this due to the inadequate federal response.
And how long did it take for her to do THAT?
She's the local person who should have a plan and should know her resources. She didn't call up enough National Guard (though she had them)and now this
How many people are left in NO? I heard a reporter today say there were a few hunderd to a couple of thousand.
Anyone know how many are left to evacuate?
Are you kidding? We used to do that for football games in with all our gear. It can be okay. I figure they'll stop every couple of hours for a biobreak anyway.
More than likely this is the case as our Gov is a space case!
Think about it, Mayor denies he has authority to declare an evac order. Why? Was he denied the authority by someone with more authority? Possibly. The Gov is next up the chain of command. Why did the Gov delay the evac order? Who denied her the authority to give the evac order? Next up the chain is Senator Mary L. Sen Mary L. was on TV the day of Katrina, front and center to blame GWB for the use of troops in Iraq being responsible for greivous injury to Dim voters.
Who could coerce Mary L. to delay the evac order? The shadow of the shrew is all over this farce of "responsible" govenment of the people. It may seem a bit convoluted, but it has motive (Blame W).
The only other explantion is TOTAL INCOMPETANCE in which case the Bunko Blancos should step aside
and let the competant take charge to prevent any more loss of life, and property! The again maybe both incompetance and treason!

She may have gotten the idea from these brave people: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1475659/posts
That can't be right. Unless they meant there were a few hundred to a couple of thousand left alive.
There were probably 80,000 to 100,000 people in the city when the levee broke. They have only evacuated about 15,000 to 20,000, if that.
Don't know what thread I saw it on, but he's apparently taking names and numbers of those that are rescued and calling their family members for them to tell them they're okay. Certainly sounds like an appropriate use of his time. /sarcasm off
She had to consult with the attorneys first
Mayor just released a statement. Said there are at least 50,000 survivors still needing to be evacuated from NO. Said 100 police were chased away by armed thugs from the Convention Center. Police could not fire back out of fear of shooting innocent people in the dark.
HA! These are some of the weakest, CLUELESS leaders I've ever seen. And the PEOPLE....geesh, they have No idea of how to help themselves and each other....PTIFUL.
Some guy did a better job of saving lives than anyone in LA gov't. He got people out by hotwiring one of the buses, loading it up and driving to Houston. It was the first bus to arrive.
I live in an area that is told to bug out at least once every hurricane season and usually more than that. For those of us who have the ability to leave, most do just that. Yet, their are always people who can not leave.
As example, those in hospital, the elderly, those in nursing homes, the mentally or physically challanged and yes, the very poor.
When Katrina hit us, my area probably should have evacuated but the storm was expected to hit much further north and move due west. Instead, it came on shore, moved south and hit S. Florida instead. Over 1 million people without power, flooding etc.
If we had to have bugged out the Government needs to step in and move those who can not do it themselves, obviously within reason. If you're capable of moving out then do it, do not rely on the government to do it for you. However, their are people who through no choice of their own must depend on others to move them. In those cases the government does need to step in.
Blanco can drive? I wouldn't what to be in the same vehicle when she is at the wheel.
Would have saved those people & more importantly, the school buses.
Hmm....President Bush on the way to New Orleans today...governor finally does something to get people the hell out of town...no coincidence there!!
They didn't have cars - unless you think they might be able to walk out of harms way in 48 hours.
