When all the humans have been helped, then we can turn our attention to dumb animals.

There are enough moonbats in NOLA now; the last thing they need is a pack of animal nuts (and you ARE nuts to go into NO if your not part of the organized relief effort) to worry about.

On the contrary, the animal rescuers --who are experts, btw, not 'nuts'-- would be performing a huge service:

1. They'd be reducing the number of dead animals contaminating the water.

2. They'd be giving the pets' owners a chance, just possibly, to reclaim their beloved pets.

And regarding #2, don't scoff. I'd rather MY privately donated money be spent on one pet's being restored to his owner, than on 5000 'psychotherapists' and 'grief counselors' to supposedly help the flood victims get back on their feet. Which is where a LOT of our taxpayer money is going to go.

Did any of you geniuses stop to think that thousands of rotting carcasses of dogs, cats, horses and livestock is going to add to the toxic soup of the flood waters?

Which is why we need to save the PEOPLE first!!!!!

Are you down there helping? Should we force you to do so? If not, can it.

Thank you for posting this thread.

Some people really are capable of caring about people and animals. Of course no one is going to bypass a human to save a dog. But they can do both.

Not sure why some on this thread think this is an either/or deal.

Below is a snippet from an AP article about a little boy being evacuated from NO to Houston and how his dog was taken from him....he was so distraught he actually threw up!......it broke my heart

NEW ORLEANS (AP) At the front of the line, the weary refugees waded through ankle-deep water, grabbed a bottle of water from state troopers and happily hopped on buses that would deliver them from the horrendous conditions of the Superdome.

At the back end of the line, people jammed against police barricades in the rain. Refugees passed out and had to be lifted hand-over-hand overhead to medics. Pets were not allowed on the bus, and when a police officer confiscated a little boy's dog, the child cried until he vomited. "Snowball, snowball," he cried.

His dog is all this little boy has left and after surviving the SuperDome, I am sure he thought that he had saved his buddy.

Please ping me or governmentshrinker with any ideas or help from dog lovers here on reuniting this little boy with his dog. Yeah, I know, I know its a long shot but miracles do happen

Please NO posts about humans being more important than animals, the rules are rules etc.
I realize that people are more important than animals and that's why I would like to help this little person, who has seen more tragedy more most of us will see in a lifetime, regain something that he loves with all his heart.

You are a sorry soul if that is how you view it. I view it as the best of what it means to be human.

The stature of the person is shown in how far he reaches out to help the helpless, including animals.

The ones raping and pillaging are the "weenies." I would and have save an animal before I would help that human trash.

They are you dope! Human rescue has been going on for days. The emphasis now is on getting supplies to the survivors, and relocation. Use your head man!

Bingo. Dogs and cats are alot more innocent victims than the mass of underclass rabble I have seen on TV.

I wish I could adopt one of these animals but I've reached my 2 pet limit for my condo.

Human life is more important, true. But that does not mean that the animals shouldn't receive some aid. Or at least some compassion. Nobody is taxing others to save the pets, so why is their s much vitriol against those who will do it on their own dime? I'd expect this on DU, but not here.

If one animal rescue team pulls one baby out of a house they've saved more humans than all you keyboard critics put together.

Amen, its easy to critize from the safety and comfort of your livingroom

It's my friggin hard earned money and I'll donate it to whomever I like. And in this case it's been split equally between organizations saving people and helping the animals.

And if you don't like it too bad.

Ah, another one of these "you haven't experienced this, so shut your mouth" liberals.

Well, in a state of emergency, anyone expending resources on rescuing animals when people are in danger should be prosecuted.

Many thanks for this info. These poor animals have been on my mind the past few days. I will call and make a donation.

I cannot argue with that.

Save a dog and you're going to have to give it water that a human could have.
