We need to take a breath and remind the world that NO is the exception. You are not hearing about outbreak of looting and violence in Mississippi and Alabama.

I made the same point to my wife. There is no looting and mayhem in Slidell either.

Still, you have to admit. Its an embarassment on the world stage.

Exactly. Even in areas that were completely demolished, the people outside of NO are behaving in a civil manner.

Well stated...while most folks elsewhere pull together, New Orleans has turned into total anarchy.
New Orleans has always had a very serious criminal element. It is now just being made visible to the world.
It seems to me, they should have known this city would turn into this nightmare. Martial law should have been declared the day the hurricane hit. Incompetent NO mayor and LA governor, IMO.

I disagree. Waisting our time trying to convince some European America haters is non productive. Lets spend our time getting things in order and stop caring what others think of us. Their words can't hurt us unless we allow them to.

You are not hearing about outbreak of looting and violence in Mississippi and Alabama. As much as it pains me to say it, there have been quite a number of stories on the looting in Biloxi, MS.
To: darkwing104
If you aren't hearing about looting in MS, it is because you aren't listening. There is looting in MS. It is to a lesser degree, as there are far fewer people in the affected areas. But it is happening.
AL just isn't that bad - there are still services, a functioning society there, even in the affected areas. So that situation just isn't comparable.

True! Everyone is focusing on one city. Yet, three full states were effected by this. It's not as if New Orleans takes up the whole state of Louisiana. There should be more stories out of the other areas. But, I guess they aren't dramatic enough for the MSM.

The terrorists have just found another way to try to bring this country to its knees. A small dirty bomb in a couple of big cities and we will have unimaginable problems.

We need to take a breath and remind the world that NO is the exception. You are not hearing about outbreak of looting and violence in Mississippi and Alabama. We need to let the world know that New Orleans was the one city in America where tourists routinely complained about never feeling safe. What is happening in NO does not surprise me one bit.

Oh God I wish that was true but you still have Los Angelenos who burn their part of the city to the ground from time to time.
Your right that Mississippi and Alabama seem to be getting along ok for the most part.
