The Congressional Black Caucus press conference is exploding in indignation at the President's lack of response. First, Elijiah Cummings blasted him. Now it is Jesse Jackson Jr's turn.

New Orleans, your mayor sucks!
To: rdb3
No, you can't. It's sad.
I realize that racism does exist in this country, but the CBC is not helping black Americans in New Orleans (or anywhere else) right now...quite the opposite.

I believe kipita is referring to "civil rights leaders" that don't actually do very much to help black Americans out of poverty, but instead promote a sense of victimhood and need of government dependence.Except it was Belafonte, not Bond who first said it.

It really disgusts me that the Democrats have made the concious decision to try to gain political points from this. I think secretly they are high-fiving each other at what is happened in New Orleans.
To: Aerohawk
He really said that verbatim?
To: GoBucks2002
I knew they would start on this crap. It seems they have.

"I think it is time to really take a look at entitlements by race and see the real results."
Yeah. I keep thinking of one woman who was interviewed on Fox yesterday, complaining that the meals the Government handed out weren't hot.
Is the mindset: "Gee, I'm glad I'm not out there floating dead in the city! Thank you for saving me!" - No. It's "You haven't given me enough, as quick as I want it."

I was streaming WWL, and watched them evacuate the buses.
At the same time, Nagin was begging folks to leave, knowing some didn't have transportation.
I wanted to scream...

As I pointed out on another thread, that crowd doesn't just play one race "card." They deal from a six deck shoe.

Louisiana, your Governor sucks to!

I heard it...if he had skipped the garbage and stuck to Matthew 25, that would have been more appropriate. Is anyone surprised by his speech?

It's affirmative action that is the problem, we need to go back to merit, not race.

Disgusting, but inevitable and predictable.
The only other inevitablility - AFTER things are safe and clean-up is completed - are the flocks of maggot attorneys who are even now licking their lips at potential windfalls and are ready to swoop down there to conduct the customary rip-off-the-public lawsuits.

The mayor should be prosecuted and imprisoned for life for his gross dereliction of duty to the city of New Orleans. If American leadership is allowed to willfully see its populations destroyed and plundered by criminal mobs, I see no use for such leadership. This is what happens when leaders are not held accountable and this trend will get worse the longer Americans allow their leadership to siphon in lawlessness instead of upholding law, order, and moral social responsibility. Prosecute the criminals, foreign or domestic, rich or poor, powerless as well as powerful. The ones who hold the most power should be held the most responsible for their actions.
