President to speak at 9am ...
And some on Free Republic as well...
Goodness, I've never read so many responses from so many people, who could do it so much better...
You know Marshall... His cousing Ty Law played for the Patriots - a cornerback, as I recall.
Right now, people are extremely frustrated and want to point the finger at someone, which is always Bush. However, any person with an IQ over 90 really does understand that people were warned DAYS beforehand to get out and prepare for this, including by the President. They didn't do it. That is not the fault of the President. If the President is to be blamed for anything, it is that he felt the citizens would take the warnings seriously and local and state officials knew how to do their job.
Hmmm...well let's see. NO is 68% black to start with...
Why would Guiliani want to go down to that hellhole?
It is some kind of fuel storage facility if I am not mistaken. I noticed that it had spraypainted on it that "Looters will be shot", and there was an explosion around 4am. Sounds suspicious.
bump and bump! good posts
That's an excellent point and one I hadn't thought about.
ROTFL. Yes, that's my mission, to bash Bush. Grow up, honey.
Where are the adults here? Far too many here looking for their mommy/daddy and wanting Presidential lip biting. I prefer action myself. The only way he could have done this better would have been to shove the LA politicians out of the way last w/e.
If you choose to 'Ride out the Storm' as a few often do, You'd better hide in your closet until the cops clear out of your neighborhood. Otherwise, they will yell at you with a bull horn and shuffle you onto a bus headed for a shelter.
It sounds oppressive, but they don't want to be responsible for your gamble with your life. They don't need you and your car in the way after a storm with gas leaking and power lines down. They don't want to have to cart your azz or children's to the hospital or morgue. And, in many cases, they don't want idle hands around searching to loot.
This horror is really hard to accept. Has anyone said exactly who told people to go to the convention center? I wonder if it was just rumor and word of mouth, since obviously no supplies were routed in that direction.
For goodness sakes... try to stay in reality...
THAT'S RIGHT!!
NOTHING LIKE A DISASTER TO START THE BLAMEGAME.
Yeah, but you're not in charge of FEMA. If the FEMA director does not know where the major shelters are, then he's a fool.
New Orleans people were told to go to the Convention Center for shelter, and the FEMA director is just finding out from the media the there is a shelter at the Convention Center. Does he even have a list of the shelters?
This guy's good.
After all, just what does Van den Heuval have to add to hurricane relief.
She serves Brian Lamb's purpose.
The former mayor was just interviewed on Fox and didn't really answer until he shrugged and said "maybe they just thought stronger levees were too expensive"....but i couldn've sworn the interviewer said he was mayor AT THE TIME.
"Why didn't they have "shoot to kill" orders the very first day? "
The current mayor was ENCOURAGING looters to take what they needed that first day.
"Jeez, we have a Biblical event, 1,000,000 people displaced in three states (New Orleans is a not the only place this event happened!), a major city underwater, several smaller cities (but fairly large) wiped off the face of this planet, the largest oil port and pipelines shut down, rampant lawlessness due to a stupid mayor and governer, 1,000s dead and it FEMA fault because they haven't fixed the problem in a week?"
God bless you. Thank you for adding some rationality.
And just WHO'S fault is it????
Agreed.
