Katrina-size hurricane would devastate South Florida, scientists say

REPRESENTATIVE WILLIAM JEFFERSON ( Democrat of Louisiana ) captured on video taking a $100,000 bribe: Gateway Pundit has a roundup. This whole "culture of corruption" is getting way out of hand.
Plus there's this: "$90,000 found in congressman's freezer . . . Some readers may recall that Jefferson also used the National Guard to secure his home in New Orleans during the Katrina aftermath.
Explaining the New Orleans Election(From a Conservative Local )--The DUmmies are moaning and wailing about Nagin's re-election, calling him a Republican and--of course--claiming the election was stolen.
So much for the Dems' attack on the GOP culture of corruption.
Now, they've got to contend with Democrat Rep. William Jefferson reportedly caught on tape accepting bribes in cold, hard cash. Emphasize on cold:
Add this one to the files, Howard.

Scrappleface spoofs: "Rep. Jefferson Hid Cash to Protect Colleagues."
One of Ed Morrissey's readers notes the possible connection between the bribe scandal and another Jefferson brouhaha over the congressman's use of "National Guard troops to check on his property and rescue his personal belongings even while New Orleans residents were trying to get rescued from rooftop:"

With another hurricane season approaching, Lou Dolinar's analysis of the medial meltdown over Katrina in Real Clear Politics couldn't be more timely. Dolinar shows that the media almost completely ignored an extraordinarily successful rescue effort, by the National Guard and others, that saved tens of thousands of lives in New Orleans. In their haste to broadcast lurid (albeit false) stories of chaos and mayhem, the press missed the real story: ...read it all. The bottom line is that the mass media blew their coverage of Hurricane Katrina badly. Has anyone paid a price for that malpractice? Not that I know of. Last I saw, media figures were awarding one another prizes for their Katrina coverage.
One wonders if the news networks took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and ended up, not in New Orleans, but on a Hollywood movie set. More here from Jonah Goldberg; Read them both, and then file for future reference the next time those who ride the microphone ponies stand before the cameras to bring us "on the scene reporting".
