Someone should call in and ask JJ if he plans on going to the Superdome to lead the group on prayer.

Are you sure it was the convention center mentioned those many times and not the superdome? They are not the same place.

Don't you wish there really was a Bruce Willis type character in there ready to take action?

It has crossed my mind that given the choice of being homeless in biloxi or nola, there is NO WAY under almost any circumstances I would choose nola, especially if i had a family to protect.

So would I. I would also rather be homeless in nola than North Korea, but I don’t think I would make the statement that people in New Orleans should be THANKING GOD that they did not live in north Korea.

"FEMA did get some airlifts in there today. but that clip of the police officer tells the true story about what is going on there regarding restoring civil order."

I don't know if you saw the clip yesterday of Shep Smith asking a police office on the I-10 overpass where those people could go to get help or who was coming to tell them where to get help. The guy who appeared to be taking videos with his own camera wouldn't even answer, he just walked away from Shep. I was amazed by that. I always thought the police were there to help.

I realize now that we all need to have our own emergency preparations on hand because if there is a big emergency we are on our own!!!

"Remember, we live in a country where people riot when their basketball team wins."

Yep. I can understand it if your team loses, but when they win?

Heard on TV earlier, they tried to bring food/water in on a helicopter, but they were met on the helipad with mobs of men with guns, and the helicopter pilot thought it best not to land.

I heard him.

I heard him say that Iraq we didn't let a little sniper fire stop us from our mission.

Do you think he'd be okay with it if we handled it the same way in NO as we do in Iraq?

Not to mention that the whole site will become the No. 1 Superfund Toxic Waste Site. The federal government doesn't have the money to decontaminate what had been New Orleans when the water is finally all pumped out. The French Quarter maybe, but not the large long-term flooded areas of the greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area.

IF New Orleans is rebuilt, most of it will have to be on some new location where the ground isn't contaminated which, given that the toxic contamination is caused by flooding, can only be on higher ground. Right now the law is that federal funds may not be used, even for loans, for building on toxic contaminated sites. Only the federal government itself is exempt from that requirement, and then only for some projects.

"When they say the National Guard is not there, they are lying."

The National Guard may be "there" -- but clearly, more National Guard are being sent because there are more "theres" that need them desperately.

Some MREs suck, some are ok

Where do you purchase yours?

This week has convinced me to add to my tornado kit, and MREs are on the list.

Thanks,

Tony

Actually, I just heard Frist on CNN say that only a few would actually be in the Senate. They just are going to pass the bill unanimously...already have consent from all members of the Senate...without the actual Senators being in the Capital. They do not need a quorem.

After all, we can't disturb the vacation plans of the majority of the Senate, can we? </sarcasm>

That makes sense about the pumping and water levels. The article clearly said seep though. If you go to FOXNews.com and click on the headline "We Don't Have Help" it will take you to that article. Since I am computer challenged, I have trouble with taking parts of articles and sticking them in here.
