I have to say this folks, but after 4 days without electricity, a bathroom and conditions unknown to us, people get REAL desperate! Now, I'm not saying or giving the bastards who are causing all the chaos a pass. I am simply stating that under those condition it's tough! ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN! I'm furious these folks are STILL waiting to be evacuated! MY GOD what is taking so long? The women and children SHOULD have been the first ones out...SOMEONE IS DROPPING THE FREAKIN BALL ROYALLY on this one!!

Nice rant but think about limitations. One hwy open.No airports open. How would you evacuate them and how would you get supplies in? I know you would wish it all to happen.

You got that right. I was talking with my sister earlier today and niether one of us can believe the lack of preparedness.

Yes, Katrina was a bigger hurricane than initially expected. But what if, instead of a natural disaster, it had been a terrorist attack? What happened to all the disaster planning, preparedness, etc.?

Sigh.

While I understand your frustation, it has taken over two days alone to evacuate the hospitals and just get the critical care patients to other hospitals that will accept them. This isn't an easy task. For every sick person who leaves NO, they have to be placed somewhere else that has room..and doesn't disrupt the care of its own patients.

And sadly, most of the cities surrounding NO are also either damaged or dealing with those refugees who left before the storm. Buses can only carry 50 people at a time, and while the Astrodome has agreed to handle many of them, we are talking about relocating an entire city. This is a logistic nightmare, since even the surrounging areas are not equiped to deal with these people.

So the no food or water would make people shoot people who are trying to rescue them? I don't think so. These people don't want the fun to end and they don't WANT the city to come back to order. The children and elderly are paying the price.

Funny how we can take out an evil dictator and overtake an entire country but can't control a mob of thugs. Sad sad day in our country as far as I'm concerned.

The governments of the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana have known for decades that this could happen, but they did not adequately prepare for it.

Now they blame Bush, who has had only a few years in office and is running the WOT as well as the rest of the country.

I get sick of people blaming the President for what the local and state governments should have been prepared for.

Of course, it would have been very expensive, but look at it now.

I feel terribly sorry for most of those trapped in NO, but so very many of them are there by choice. They did not trust the untrustworthy media and the politicans.

I think most do not understand the extreme logictics problems of getting people and materiel into the city. It would do no good just to put people in without the supplies required to do be effective.

When we do send in troops, the people do not want them. I heard one man say that if we send in NG troops to the Convention Center, there will be a gun battle.

What does the government do? They are wrong no matter what they do.

Having said that, there is an incredible number of people who are selflessly helping those in need. May God bless them.
