Pentagon Finds More Who Recall Atta Intel

WASHINGTON -- Pentagon officials said Thursday they have found three more people who recall an intelligence chart that identified Sept. 11 mastermind Mohamed Atta as a terrorist one year before the attacks on New York and Washington. But they have been unable to find the chart or other evidence that it existed.

Last month, two military officers, Army Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer and Navy Capt. Scott Philpott, went public with claims that a secret unit code-named Able Danger used data mining _ searching large amounts of data for patterns _ to identify Atta in 2000. Shaffer has said three other Sept. 11 hijackers also were identified.

In recent days Pentagon officials have said they could not yet verify or disprove the assertions by Shaffer and Philpott. On Thursday, four intelligence officials provided the first extensive briefing for reporters on the outcome of their interviews with people associated with Able Danger and their review of documents.

They said they interviewed at least 80 people over a three-week period and found three, besides Philpott and Shaffer, who said they remember seeing a chart that either mentioned Atta by name as an al-Qaida operative or showed his photograph. Four of the five recalled a chart with a pre-9/11 photo of Atta; the other person recalled only a reference to his name

THAT'S A BOLD FACED LIE!! There is a video of a meeting held by Weldon in which the chart is clearly seen.

THE CHART DID EXIST - and even if the democrats ordered it destroyed after 9/11 - to protect their own behinds - it's too late - there is proof it existed and Atta's name is clearly seen on the video.

There will be more. Mark Levin read from the AP release and said that the Pentagon "still couldn't find the chart". Weldon has a witness who will 'name names' regarding the destruction of materials under threat of 'jail'. We're talking a centipede with shoes here, Dog....

Good news!! Momentum is building, sounds like there are more potential witnesses for the SJC hearings, but some real documentation would still be a BIG help.....

fwiw, I've been reading this guy "Captain V" -- a blogger who is supposed to be very well wired into federal security agencies, and he says there are supposed to be several uppper-level people related to AD scurrying for the exits in the near future:

this will not go away .this is more important than some army brass or a former pres. after labor day it will begin in ernest. the first sign will be transfers and retirements at the dod. no more cya from the political class.

I'll bet Rummy didn't know and is ticked off that he was not informed. Behind the scenes and very quietly he is probably demanding all those involved to get on the ball or pay the piper. One thing that will come out in the hearings is that Rummy was never briefed by the outgoing def-sec about ALL the programs that were being run.


It is going to very interesting.
