I'd like to see as many pictures as possible in one place - I'm starting this thread with some pics of the effects of Katrina. Please add from other available sources. '' is how images are displayed.

FYI, there's a thread for images below, too. Just cross-referencing. That one is over 700 posts long, so it's probably time for a new spot.

That is one very sad picture of the woman in the yellow with her child. This is beyond awful.

I LIVE JUST SOUTH OF JACKSON MS. AND WE JUST GOT BACK OUR POWER AT 2:30 TODAY. ALL THE MEDIA TRYING TO BLAME FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (PRESIDENT BUSH) IS A LOT OF CRAP THERE IS DAMAGE IN THIS STATE THAT NO MATTER WHAT THEY HAD HERE WOULD HELP MUCH CAUSE THEY COULD NOT GET TO THEM. THE ROAD HAD TO BE CLEARED BEFORE THEY COULD GET PWOER TRUCK IN TO WORK. AND YES I'M IN A CITY. THERE IS DAMAGE ALL THE WAY UP THE STATE. BY MEAN DO WE HAVE IT A 100000000% LIKE THEY DO ON THE COAST AND IN LA. BUT IT WAS BAD HERE. WE LOST POWER MONDAY AT 1:00 PM BEFORE THE HURRICANE EVER GOT HERE. SO FOR THE MEDIA TO START THE BLAME GAME GAME IS NUTS. THERE IS STILL HUNDERED OF THOUDSANDS OF PEOPLE HERE WITH OUR POWER AND WE ARE 300 MILES FROM COAST. IT IS UNREAL MUXH DAMGES THERE IS HERE. OUR DAUGHTER AND HER FAMILY LIVES AT GULFPORT AND THEY ARE WITH US ALONE WITH 2 YOUNG CHILREN. AND THEY MAY NOT HAVE HOME OR JOBS TO GO HOME TO. SHE IS A NURSE ANC COMMUNITY HOSPITAL AND HE WORK A VA (RETIRED NAVY)HOSPITAL. AND WE DO NOT KNOW YET WHAT IS LEFT OF EITHER HOSPITAL. NOR DO WE KNOW ABOUT THERE HOME. THEY HOME IS ONE AND HALF MILES NORTH OF I 10. FORM WHAT WE KNOW HATTIESBURG IS LIKE A WAR ZONE THEY HAD TO CUT THERE WAY TO COAST WITH CHAINS SAWS TO GET THERE (POWER CO. AND ANYONE WHO WAS GOING THERE TO HELP. SO IF MEDAIS HAD THERE WAY ALL THE HELP, IF THEY WERE ANY CLOSER WOULD BE IN NO SHAPE TO HELP. CAMP CHELLBY WAS ALSO DAMAGED. WE HAVE POWER COMPANIRES HERE FORM GA. , AL, PENN. AND MANY MORE. THAT IS JUST WE HAVE SEEN OUR TOWN. THANKS TO ALL OF THEM FROM THE BOTTOM OF ALL MISSISSIPPI.A HEARTS. THEY HAVE BEEN SO KIND TO US AND WORKED DAY AND NIGHT TO GET US POWER AND FOR THAT WE ARE GREATFUL. THERE IS NO WAY THIS IS GOING TO BE FIX OVER NIGHT AND ALL OF US MS. KNOW'S THAT. IF THEY HAD ALL THE STUFF SETTING OUTSIDE OUR CITIES THEY COULD NOT DO ANYMORE THAN IS BEING DONE. THERE IS SO MANY TREES DOWN IT UNBLEAVEABLE. AND IT TAKE TIME. DON'T GET ME WRONG WE WANTED OUR POWER BACK BUT WE KNEW THEY WORKING AND DOING IT AS FAST AS THEY COULD. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MEDIA FOLLOW THESE POWER WORKERS AROUND FOR ONE DAY. WE SEEN THE SETTING IN THERE TRUCK EATING LUNCH AND RIGHT BACK TO WORK. I WANT TO SAY ONE THING TO THE MEDIA SHUT UP ! ! !

We don't need a new thread for images now.

JohnRob has this site designed so that threads don't max out until reaching 65,000 + posts !

If anyone having page loading problems (esp. dialup users) would simply go to their preferences page and choose 20 or 50 messages per page under 'Thread Pagination', 98% of refresh complaints would vanish.

Yes, post it there but please don't do it in all CAPS and remember that punctuation and paragraphs are your friends.

The media isn't reporting how bad it is north of New Orleans. Call received today:

Refugees being dumped 40 miles outside no into store parking lots

People being dumped off busses have not eaten in days and are not given food nor water

People looting stores, private homes where no water/wind damage to homes took place

Carjackings

Employees told to go home and protect your families

Neighbors planning on forming block militias to protect families from gang members being dumped off in their communities - NO presence of government - No presence of law officials - chaos

Because there is no National Guard, no police presence in communities 40 miles outside New Orleans, there is no food on store shelves because of looting

According to caller (a man who never ordinarily cries but in tears on phone) from 40 mlies outside NO, the media is not reporting how awful the conditions are

And not reporting the thousands of dead bodies in devastated area

Advised caller to get children up north ASAP out of harms way -- Hopefully there'll be a way to do that

It's hard to be patient and listen to the politicians yack about all that they are doing KNOWING there are people who are being put in harms way because of the disorganized, chaotic, irresponsible way the refugee problem is being handled -- there is NO coordination whatsoever at this point -- a complete system breakdown in many communities OUTSIDE New Orleans
