SACRAMENTO, California (AP) -- The California Senate approved legislation Thursday that would legalize same-sex marriages, a vote that makes the chamber the first legislative body in the country to approve a gay marriage bill.
The 21-15 vote sets the stage for a showdown in the state Assembly, which narrowly rejected a gay marriage bill in June.

I'm quite surprised this passed, and even more so by that margin. Wonder what Arnold will do if this makes it to his desk.

Didn't CA voters pass a constitutional amendment years ago banning gay marriage?

The California Constitution via Prop 22 limites marriage to between a man and a women. The government cannot change the Constitution, only the people can. Sadly gov is suppose to run under the peoples rules and the CA gang simply will not listen to the people.
Arnold will have no option but to veto it or not get re-elected.

This will now accelerate the call for a Constitutional amendement in Congress, and force many Dems to take sides...

Didn't CA voters pass a constitutional amendment years ago banning gay marriage?Yep. And, with a resounding NO at that.
Apparently, the people aren't smart enough. Makes one wonder what else these scum senators will view as a "bad call" by the good people of California.

The current pool of California state senators is not the same as what it was 50 years ago. Immigration is changing this country and changing for the worst. Immigration is affecting every aspect of our society, including elected officials.

Arnold will have no option but to veto it or not get re-elected. We should send him a giant pen that says

Very unwise to defy the will of the people. At least they could have get the initiative repealed by the people before doing this.
